Now, our sights are set on making our Spanish proposition even stronger. In pursuit of this ambition, we seek Surety Underwriters at various levels (junior to senior).Role overviewWe seek a motivated and enthusiastic individual in different European countries to service the surety market locally. This opportunity is ideal for professionals at any stage of their surety career with excellent interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail.Whether you are a seasoned expert or an eager professional at the beginning of your journey, your primary responsibilities include risk underwriting and client management, product and risk portfolio management, and compliance and controlling activities.At DUAL, we value self-motivated individuals who exhibit confidence, curiosity, and adaptability. You will collaborate closely with our team of surety specialists across Europe, including involvement in claims handling, marketing, and operations. Hence, adept prioritization and multitasking skills are essential.Role responsibilities— Underwrite and develop new business for potential and existing clients in adherence to surety guidelines, business plan, and the company's granted authorities. (For junior candidates, training and mentorship will be provided to develop these skills.)— Cultivate relationships proactively and establish trust with brokers and clients, ensuring quality service, increasing client acquisition, and maximizing client satisfaction through regular engagement.— Collect financial reports and relevant data to monitor exposure, conduct risk underwriting, and provide thorough recommendations and decisions in line with the nature and duration of the risk.— Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of companies, producing high-quality underwriting analyses that align with risk appetite, guidelines, and best practices. (Junior candidates will focus on learning and supporting in assessments while gaining experience.)— Continuously monitor economic and legal trends, adapt your risk appetite to these trends and translate this into underwriting strategies for different sectors and bond profiles in your local market.— Quote and negotiate appropriate conditions for surety agreements, tailoring solutions to clients' needs.— Drive profitability through the company’s strategic objectives by developing an effective annual business activity planning process, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of business plans, processes, and key contacts. (Junior candidates will contribute to this process as they develop their understanding.)— Collaborate with underwriters to foster business development, innovation, and portfolio management, sharing ideas, best practices, and streamlining processes in alignment with the local surety market.— Resolve outstanding underwriting and claim matters promptly to mitigate risks and facilitate support functions such as claims, finance, and compliance.— Manage administrative processes, including bond application advisory and approval, bond wording review, invoicing, and final issuance of surety bonds.— Provide structured management reporting and accurate system data entries in a timely manner.— Identify cross-selling opportunities and promote DUAL's underwriting products and services to brokers.— Support the wider European team in maintaining underwriting profitability and cultivating strong stakeholder relationships.On a typical dayWith a steaming cup of coffee in hand, the day kicks off by diving into a surety facility request. You carefully analyse the risk based on financial data and project specifics. You're once again, intrigued by the unique nature of each risk, recognizing that no two are alike. Throughout the day, you engage with clients and colleagues, gathering additional information and collaborating on complex cases. (For junior candidates, shadowing and assisting senior underwriters will be an integral part of their learning process). Before heading to lunch you bump into Annet at the coffee station and you share the success of closing a significant surety facility for a prominent client that requires bonds across Europe. You leave the office for a lunch appointment with a client. who is pleased with your guidance and terms proposition. Back to the office you wrap up a day filled with in-depth analysis and strategic interactions, all aimed at effectively managing risk and ensuring exceptional service. With Friday on the horizon, you are looking forward the well-deserved gathering with colleagues for drinks to celebrate another pleasant and fruitful week at DUAL Europe.Key requirements— University degree in Law, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent thinking level.— Experience in relevant roles, starting from 1 year for junior candidates, to 3+ years for senior candidates, in risk analyses and underwriting in a banking or surety environment.— Excellent understanding of surety underwriting practices, including writing high-standard credit proposals with meticulous attention to detail.— Dynamic personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills, team spirit, and persuasiveness.— Proactive, autonomous, and eager learner with vision, sense of urgency, and proficient in risk decision-making.— In-depth knowledge of domestic surety products and markets, with an existing network of local brokers and clients.
