OPERATIONS MANAGER

Objectives:The Operations Manager in Spain will be responsible for the successful management of the Fulfillment center, distribution center, shipping/logistics, and warehousing functions in our new facility in Madrid. They will ensure the effective forward planning of materials and components to meet manufacturing forecasts and will work closely with the Marketing/Supply Chain Manager to ensure on-time delivery of systems and components. They will ensure that correct planning is in place to ensure efficient use of available shipping slots. Their logistics and shipping team will be responsible for all warehousing functions including the physical inventory.Major Duties and Responsibilities:Operations:Ensure compliance with Valmont policies and regulations.Maintain and improve process efficiency and QCI adherence.Recommend optimal shipping and logistics solutions and equipment needs.Develop and update all operations procedure manuals (IQRS).Set up work orders for assembly.Responsible for staff adherence and improvement using Lean operations principlesManage personnel: Work allocation, training, and problem resolution.Evaluate employee performance and motivate them to achieve peak productivity.Work with the management team to implement new or revise current products and procedures including costing.Maintain a proactive equipment maintenance program.Forecast facility capabilities and manage annual production targets within the operating budget.Work with the management team to management team to implement new or revise current products and procedures including costing.Analyze new ECN records & plan to implement them.Participate in the development of product forecasts.Quality Assurance of finished products.To actively participate in team meetings, relative to Product Availability, Sales, Marketing, Group Team meetings, and the associated customer visits.Must have Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) experienceA clear understanding of the Spanish Laws: Environmental / Safety.Good understanding of Manufacturing processes and/or Contract Manufacturing (including Quality Control/Assurance).Initiate and drive Cost Saving Projects.A clear understanding of Inventory Management (Accuracy, Obsolescence & Warehouse Controls).Warehousing:Maintaining effective inventory control records and system procedures.Determine obsolete, slow * non-moving inventory and develop an action plan.Actively support Plant, Shipping, and Warehousing cost savings projects.Responsible for Warehouse Management System accuracy.To meet department variable and period budgets and supervise the department in such a manner to ensure the highest level of efficiency while meeting budgets.To assure effective labor relations and consistent contract and policy administration while promoting a work environment conducive to people improvement and motivation of the production workforce.To train and motivate subordinates in the performance of their duties, develop their Total Production Manufacturing (TPM) capabilities, lead AM teams, develop their management talents, and encourage creativity at the supervisory level so that a constant supply of qualified supervisors is available for positions of greater responsibility.Shipping & Logistics:Support the goal and objective of production in conjunction with customer service to accomplish shipment requirements/deadlines.Responsible for supervising the Shipping functions in order to provide optimum movement of raw materials, package materials, and finished products at the most efficient and economical cost, while maintaining safety.Planning & coordinating shipping schedules.Maintenance:Control & Direct preventive maintenance in the DC & fulfillment centerProgram logic control for proper equipment operation to ensure “ZERO” lost time.Health and Safety:Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.Conduct regular safety audits and assessments of the workplace.Report any safety hazards, accidents, or injuries and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.Lead by example in promoting a culture of health, safety, and well-being within the workplace.Sustainability:Contribute to the organization’s sustainability initiatives by reducing resource consumption and waste.Promote and implement energy-saving practices and eco-friendly solutions across team activities.Collaborate with departments to track sustainability performance and report progress against environmental goals.Independence: Reporting to the EMEA Operations director & dotted line to the RVP, Operating with broad objectives and with independent choice of methods in line with the division’s mission statement.Supervisory Responsibilities: 5 EmployeeMinimum Qualifications:Education level: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or equivalent experience.Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in Production/Operations Management in a Manufacturing environment within agricultural/Steel industrial sectors.Specific knowledge, skill, ability, and requirements: strong experience in standing up and managing a distribution & fulfillment center in Spain. Expert in planning & logistics is a must. Strong software experience in CAD & engineering designs is required. Excellent analytical, negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills are essential. Must have sound knowledge on Microsoft products such as Excel, Winword, PowerPoint, etc. Experience in working with multicultural environments is desired.Fluency in Spanish & English is necessary to be successful in this role.
