PLATFORM ENGINEER (AWS/KUBERNETES/TERRAFORM) - SANTANDER AUTO SOFTWARE

Job Overview: We are seeking a Platform Engineer to join our platform team. The Platform Engineer will be instrumental in both individual contributions and supporting team efforts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet our global business needs.Responsibilities:Design, develop and support robust, scalable, and resilient cloud-native systems using microservice architecture principles to support international deployment.Drive the enhancement and improvements of our platform's infrastructure, focusing on automation, deployment, and monitoring processes to improve performance and reliability.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers, promoting a culture of learning and knowledge exchange within the team.Act as a technical lead on projects, ensuring best practices and engineering excellence are maintained.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine platform requirements, translating complex business needs into practical technical solutions.Lead troubleshooting and resolution of high-impact production issues, ensuring systems are optimised and performant.Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes, including CI/CD, automated testing, and security measures.Engage in strategic discussions to help shape the platform's future direction and architecture, serving as a subject expert in platform engineering.Skills & Knowledge:Deep experience in platform engineering, particularly within cloud-native environments and utilising microservice architectures.Extensive knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), including hands-on experience with IaC tools such as Terraform.Great knowledge and experience with orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.Strong knowledge in networking, load balancing, and secure cloud practices.Proven track record in designing and managing scalable, high-availability systems.Proficient with modern development and infrastructure automation tools.Knowledge with Authentication and authorisation systems.Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of debugging and optimizing complex distributed systems.Effective communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.Additional Qualifications:A proactive approach to overcoming challenges and a willingness to take ownership of problems and see them through to resolution.Enthusiasm for continuous learning and personal growth within the technological and platform engineering fields.The ability to mentor or coach at the individual or group levels, to transfer and fan out skills and knowledge to others.This role not only requires a high level of technical expertise but also a commitment to collaborative problem-solving and an ability to drive projects forward independently.
