RESEARCHER IN DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF DIAGNOSTIC STRATEGIES FOR PORCINE TRANSBOUNDARY DISEASES FOR THE ANIMAL HEALTH PROGRAM

IRTA is currently seeking a highly motivated researcher focused on the development and application of diagnostic strategies for porcine transboundary diseases, placing emphasis on the diagnosis and prevention of relevant viral diseases that affect swine. The researcher will participate as a member of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) classical swine fever (CSF) Reference Laboratory.Head of the Program: Dr Natàlia MajóProgram’s key researcher/s for this position: Dr Llilianne Ganges, WOAH Expert in CSFJob location: IRTA-CReSA (Barcelona)Full-time position: 37.5 h/weekTerms of appointment: permanent full-time permanent position or full-time tenure track position subject to the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.Salary: To be resolved according to the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.Employee Benefits: 22 vacation days, 3 days of family & work conciliation, 45h of personal days, Friday afternoon off, Compressed Summer schedule from 15/06 to 15/09, Conciliation schedule.Tasks and Responsabilities:Contribution to the activities of the research Program in the classical swine fever and related diseases research line, performing scientific and technical tasks, taking part in the planning and execution of the research projects.Responsible of the diagnostic activities of porcine diseases for the Department of Agricultura, Ramaderia, Pesca i Alimentació under the annual Action Plan.Performance of literature review, data collection and management, involving statistical analysis.Contribution to the scientific production of the research and innovation activities of the Program.Lead and actively contribute to fund-rising through the preparation and submission of project proposals for public competitive calls and for contracts with the private sector.Participate in the writing progress and final reports of research and diagnostic activities.Supervision of PhD candidates and MSc students.Participation in national and international academic conferences.Participate in the execution of activities in the World Organization for Animal Health classical swine fever Reference Laboratory.Contribute to the valorisation of scientific research.Identification of opportunities for cutting-edge research and innovation to address strategic priorities of the research line.Contribute to the teamwork and team-spirit in the research line and in the Animal Health Program, fostering collaboration and integration activities.Required qualifications and experience:PhD in veterinary sciences, animal health, biomedical sciences or biotechnological sciences.Proven research record on the diagnostic, prevention, pathogenesis and viral evolution of CSFV and/or other transboundary porcine diseases by relevant scientific publications in the field of veterinary medicine or virology.Experience in diagnostic techniques of viral porcine diseases.Internation research professional experience.Experience in virological and molecular biology research technologies, such as virus production and titration, microscopy, PCR, sequencing and virus evolution studies.Desirable requirements:Experience in performing diagnostic techniques under quality systems (ISO 17025).Experience in other more advanced techniques such as phylogenetic analysis and RNAseq.Knowledge for the study of pathogenesis of viral infections.Experience in supervision and mentoring of PhD candidates and MSc students.Knowledge on the valorisation of scientific researchLanguages:Proficiency in English.Spanish and Catalan are valued.Application process:If you wish to be considered for this position, please, apply via our Recruitment Platform https://borsatreball.irta.cat/ to the job post with reference 141/24 and upload your CV until 13/10/2024 and motivation letter.
