ASSISTANT ENGINEER

Ethicon, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for an Assistant Engineer in the New Product Development group within Wound Closure and Healing-Biosurgery R&D.
The position is located in Raritan, New Jersey.
The Ethicon business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies including sutures, topical skin adhesives, hemostasis products, surgical staplers, trocars, energy devices and synthetic mesh devices-used in a wide variety of open and minimally invasive surgical procedures.
Specialties include orthopedics, support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity.

In this role, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team focused on pioneering the next generation of wound closure and healing products that make a tangible impact on patient care.
Working closely with experienced engineers in our labs, you will support the design, development, and testing of absorbable and non-absorbable sutures, knotless tissue control devices, topical skin adhesives, as well as mesh and molded products.
Key Responsibilities.
Provide technical support to multidisciplinary project teams in the design, development, and manufacturing of various devices primarily within wound closure and healing.
Assist in the prototyping, assembly, and testing of suture materials and components.
Fabricate and assemble prototypes with the support of the technical team.
Conduct tests, analyze data, and report results to the engineering team.
Work closely with engineers to refine designs based on test results and performance criteria.
Assist in the preparation and review of technical documents, including specifications, test plans, and reports.
Maintain and operate lab equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable testing conditions.
Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure producible designs.
Ensure compliance with company quality policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications Qualifications Required.
A minimum of a High School Diploma required.
A minimum of 2-4 years of experience working in a hands on, mechanical based role Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking Must be able to balance multiple projects and maintain organization Must have the ability to work individually as well as on a team Hands-on experience with assembly, maintenance, machining, testing, or troubleshooting Basic understanding of testing equipment Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Proficient in English in both verbal and written communication Preferred.
AS or BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a directly related scientific discipline preferred.
Experience in the medical device industry.
2-4 years of experience desired, including roles such as assembler, maintenance technician, or other hands-on roles.
Knowledge of textile manufacturing processes such as extrusion, textile manufacturing, and coating.
Machining or other fabrication experience desired Familiarity with lab procedures and practices.
Understanding of regulatory standards and design controls.
