Descripción The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education.

Lugar Barcelona, Campus Clinic-CEK WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ISGlobal is seeking a Master’s level researcher in bioinformatics and data science to work on the malaria research projects performed by the Malaria Immunology Group.
The overall goals are to identify molecular signatures correlating and predicting vaccine immunogenicity and protection against and understand the mechanisms and mediators of protective immunity induced by infection and vaccines using single-cell RNAseq and CITE-Seq methods and multidimensional clinical, epidemiological, immunological and molecular data.
ABOUT THE POSITION ISGlobal is seeking a researcher in bioinformatics to work on the project “Unravelling the heterogeneity and function of monocytes in vaccination and immunity to malaria (VaMonoS)”, project PIDOB-I00 funded by the Ministry of Science (MCIN/AEI/// FEDER, UE).
The aim of this project is to decipher the molecular, phenotypic and functional profiles of monocyte subsets associated with vaccine immunogenicity and induced protection.
Ultimately, the goal of this project is to improve the health of people, particularly those responding poorly to vaccines, through the generation of novel knowledge on monocytes immunology.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Bioinformatics expertise in omics analysis is essential  Previous expertise in malaria and immunology research  Knowledge of predictive analysis, modeling and machine learning is required to analyze complex immunological data sets Advanced bioinformatics skills and programming, preferably with R Experience with database management software including R Experience/knowledge in analysing complex multidimensional data using machine learning methods Motivated researcher capable of setting and meeting deadlines and delivering research outputs to the required standard   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Management and analysis of data generated in single-cell RNAseq, CITE-seq and ATAC-Seq experiments in relation to malaria vaccination and infection.
Integration of single-cell data with immunological, epidemiological and clinical datasets In addition, management and analysis of other OMIC data in relation to malaria immunity.
SPECIFIC DUTIES Design, implement, manage relational databases Contribute to developing robust, standardized bioinformatic pipelines for single-cell techniques.
scRNA-seq and CITE-Seq Perform the analysis of single-cell data generated in the group and integrate it with immunological, epidemiological and clinical data.
Establish general quality controls, standards and good practices to ensure quality and reproducibility Provide training and support to the teams for the execution and analysis of specific experiments Carry out data cleaning and quality control,  Document and archive all data for easy use in future research Conduct statistical analyses of the data using specialised bioinformatics software for immunology studies Prepare data reports and manuscripts AUXILIAR TASKS This job description reflects the present requirements of the post but may evolve at any time in the future as duties and responsibilities change and/or develop providing there is appropriate consultation with the post-holder.

SELECTION PROCESS The selection process is designed in two phases.
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation.
To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be pass.
A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview.
