CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the Chief Accountant will be responsible for the efficient running of the department in line with Hyatt International's Corporate Strategies and brand standards, whilst meeting employee, guest and owner expectations. The Chief Accountant is responsible to supervise and oversee the accounts payable, receivable, ledger, credit and all related areas.Main DutiesEnsures that each section of the Accounting and Finance Department is managed efficiently, maximizing utilization of technology.Reviews all Purchase Orders to ensure that the correct charts of account codes are used.Maintains and programs Master Keys for the hotel, and to keep good working of the interfaces.Review the reports compiled by Cost Auditor and liaise with the Materials Manager to ensure proper procedures and control of inventories.Keep and to safeguard all contracts, leases insurance policies and all legal and financial documents.Income AuditAccounts PayableAccounts Receivable/CreditGeneral AccountingAssist the Director of Finance in monthly financial reporting and analysis.Assist the Director of Finance in compiling budgets and forecasts and assists Department Assist Director of Finance in the leadership of the Finance TeamHandles all problems of the accounting office with the exception of those that have been referred to the Director of Finance.Customer Service: Supports the hotel’s focus on service excellence by training and assisting other departments.Among other duties related to the overall finance and accounting department management Other DutiesIs knowledgeable in statutory legislation in taxes, Forex, employee and industrial relations.Exercises responsible management and behavior at all times and positively representing the hotel management team and Hyatt International.Maintains strong, professional relationships with the relevant representatives from competitor hotels and other organizations, especially travel agencies, local business groups and airlines.Responds to changes in the Finance function as dictated by the industry, company and hotel.Reads the hotel's Employee Handbook and has an understanding of and adheres to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to computer resources, fire, hygiene, health and safety.Attends all training and meetings as required.Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications - ExternalUniversity degree or diploma in Finance, Commerce or Hospitality/Tourism management - preferredMinimum 2 years work experience as Chief Accountant or Senior Accountant in larger operationGood problem solving, administrative and interpersonal skills are a must.English and Spanish fluent (written and verbal)
