COASTAL HEALTH PROJECT COORDINATOR

On the other hand, climate change is affecting rain patterns worldwide, and water scarcity is becoming a major problem in Mediterranean destinations, where water restrictions may prevent gardens from being irrigated. Native plants require less water and maintenance, reducing the costs associated with gardening and contributing to an increase in biodiversity.The main mission of our Coastal Health Project Coordinator will be to contribute to developing a new concept of garden in the hospitality sector, particularly in the Mediterranean.As a Coastal Health Project Coordinator, your main responsibilities will be:Benchmarking of landscape planning initiatives related to gardens in urban and/or coastal areas.Development of a new Garden Index to be applied at the hospitality sector that which will include at least three dimensions: Environment/biodiversity, human well-being and resource efficiency.Liaise with different company's departments in order to get the required data, and data analysis to evaluate environmental performance of Iberostar gardens (i.e. humidity, temperature, hours of sun, garden surface, type of vegetation, water consumption, irrigation systems, etc…).If required, contribute to the development of data sampling protocols and the collection of high quality and consistent data on-shore or in-water.Supervise consultants and partners, in coordination with the Coastal Health Manager, providing guidance, monitoring progress, reviewing deliverables and making recommendations.Help lead the implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of Coastal Health Projects.Accomplish internal reporting processes.Who is the ideal person for this job?We are looking for someone passionate about gardens and landscape planning with knowledge about Mediterranean plants, soil types and irrigation systems and able to provide a scientific approach with the ultimate goal of becoming an expert in Mediterranean gardens applicable to the hospitality industry.S/he must be able to think out of the box, has strong organizational skills and is able to manage a portfolio of projects dealing with a broad range of different topics. Creativity is a must in order to approach multidisciplinary and complex projects while providing innovative solutions, easy to adapt to continuous changes and motivated to evolve alongside Iberostar´s coastal health strategy.Education:Bachelor or master degree engineering (recommended but not limited to forest, agronomy, agricultural, civil, surveyor, hydrology or chemistry engineering), environmental sciences (biology, phytology, ecology or similar…), geography, architecture or related disciplines.Experience & Knowledge:Project coordination and management.Experience (or willingness to be involved) in scientific research and publications in peer-reviewed internation al journals.Surveying design and data collection, analysis and interpretation. Spatial data analysis is recommended.Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following fields is highly recommended and will be positively evaluated: coastal / garden / landscape planning, gardening, water management, phytology…Data collection, analysis and interpretation is required. Spatial data analysis is recommended and will be positively evaluated.Languages:Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English.French, Arabic and/or Catalan will be positively evaluated but are not essential.Tools:Proficiency level in Excel and high skill-level in other microsoft office tools.
