EXPERT RESEARCHER TECHNICIAN IN EUROPEAN BIRD MONITORING DATABASES (LIFE EBP REINFORCEMENT PROJECT, CATALAN OBSERVATORY, BIODIVERSA+ PARTNERSHIP AND LPI) (REF. )

CREAF is seeking an expert researcher technician to work in the Life EBP reinforcement project (Improving the capabilities of the EuroBirdPortal project in order to boost its contribution towards EU policy objectives under the Birds Directive and the Biodiversity Strategy) ref.
LIFE22-PLP-ES-EBP funded by the European Union.
The candidate will also work on the database and strategic planning of the Catalan Natural Heritage and Biodiversity Observatory and the involvement on these topics in the BIODIVERSA+ partnership, and also contribute to the Catalan Living Planet Index project (LPI).
CREAF is seeking an experienced database and computer system expert with a strong background in European bird databases to work, together with other Spanish and European institutions, to work in the EuroBirdPortal project integrating observations from bird portals all over Europe.
Together with ICO (Catalan Ornithological Institute, https://ornitologia.
rg/ca/) and EBCC (European Bird Census Council, https://www.
bcc.
nfo), our group is leading on the development of bird based EBVs and derived indicators (farmland, forest and open habitats) that bridge the gap between informing current global change impacts and the evaluation of future scenarios of change allowing the assessment of current socio-political decisions.
A full-time contract (37,5 hours/week) is offered with planned incorporation in October , and a duration of 24 month with possibility of an extension if the budget allows.
The salary offered is € gross per year.
TASKS.
Coordinate specific activities of the CREAF team related to the EBP Life Reinforcement project.
Coordinate the management of large-scale biodiversity databases at the Catalan and European scale.
Translate the acquired knowledge on processes and interactions into operational tools.
Collaborate with other researchers in the team and external partners to link developed bird spatial products to landscape and climate scenarios of future change.
High quality scientific outputs in the form of journal publications and contribution to relevant policy reports.
Networking with other national and international groups in database development and bird spatial modeling and monitoring.
Collaborate with a large consortium of scientists to provide the outputs necessary for spatial modelling.
Contribution to relevant policy reports.
REQUIREMENTS.
A degree relevant to database management.
Proven expertise on database management and computer programming Expertise in biodiversity monitoring projects and biodiversity research.
Deep knowledge of the EuroBirdPortal project and associated databases.
Proven previous experience in developing visualization of bird spatial information at the European scale.
Contrasted capacity to lead work and team up with other researchers.
Previous experience in project management and leadership biodiversity data base development.
Advanced knowledge of English.
ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS.
Experience in working alongside and/or coordinating large research groups, preferably in an international environment.
Experience in the reporting of biodiversity relevant European legislation and Nature directives.
Experience in team coordination and management in an academic/professional environment Experience in developing successful proposals for competitive project applications.
