Position Title: Head of Academic Department-Spain Location: Vogue College of Fashion-Madrid Reports with doted lines: Global Academic Director (London based)- Global Director (Madrid based) Contract: Full time and Permanent Type: In-person  Role summary The Head of Academic Department is an essential senior team member at Vogue College of Fashion in Spain. Together with the Head of Careers and stakeholders' engagement and the Head of Operations will assure the correct functioning of all College tasks and services. This position reports directly to the Global Director and the Global Academic Director.  The Head of Academic Department Spain position will coordinate the full team of the Academic department ensuring the better implementation from curriculum development, the organisation, the quality management and enhancement perspective for the Postgraduate Programmes, Diplomas, Online and Summer courses. The role will supervise the overall academic mission and oversee its implementation. This position will work in collaboration with the different director of the programs to ensure the perfect development of the curricula.  This vacant position works closely in collaboration with colleagues across the College – Head of Careers and stakeholders' engagement and the Head of Operations-, to ensure the highest possible standards of student experience in terms of curriculum development, students in class experience, external student's activity and all other students related issues like programme promotion, student progression, student recruitment, student induction and learning support.   Key responsibilities:  Academic Coordination  Manage, organize, direct and monitor the Academic Course Coordinators team for delivering the best experience to the students.  Directly manage some of the courses run by Vogue College of Fashion. Supervise the communications of that team with the university directors and all stakeholders to have a polite and professional relationship according to the Vogue values and the university standards. Contribute as a member of the Spain Senior Management Team, working with the Global Director and the Global Academic Director in the continuous development, strategic planning and review of the direction and delivery of Programmes and courses and the College’s activities.  Work with Course directors to lead, manage and support the academic staff responsible for the delivery of courses within the Programme, setting, promoting and maintaining appropriate educational and professional standards of good practice in all aspects of course organisation, administration and delivery. To contribute to the College academic community by feeding into the Learning & Teaching Strategy and College reporting structure through participation in relevant College committees.   Programme Management Oversee the implementation of the academic mission that the co-directors of the courses (university and external professionals) design for the Postgraduate and all other Programmes and Oversee and manage the running of the programmes. To write the memoirs of new programs and to schedule them, in collaboration with the university and other directors. Suggest and check with the Global Director the identity of the visiting lecturers, guest speakers and other faculty; lead, manage and support the academic staff responsible for the delivery within the Vogue College of Fashion Programmes, setting, promoting and maintaining appropriate educational and professional standards of good practice in all aspects of organisation, administration and delivery To control the management of budget requirements. To ensure required resources are available and room allocation is appropriate for scheduled classes, with the relevant course material and information for classes delivered.   Programme & Curriculum Design / Development  To contribute to the review and development of the current and future programmes to ensure it remains industry relevant and academically rigorous, in collaboration with the Global Director and the Global Academic Director. To write the necessary documents for university purposes of validation, in collaboration with Global Director and Global Academic Director. To ensure the curriculum is organised and delivered effectively, always under the approbation of the university directors and the Global Director/Global Academic Director. Operate in conjunction with the appropriate Course Leaders to ensure that each constituent course within the programmes has a clear and compelling vision, agenda for development, and strategy for the maintenance and enhancement of quality  Marketing & Recruitment Participate in College marketing and recruitment activities, if needed, and if it’s timely possible.  Quality Management & Enhancement  To ensure the effective monitoring of the courses and all staff involved within the programmes. To ensure adherence of college and universities QA procedures  To analyse data on student behaviour and experience and achievement across all programmes To be attentive and responsive of the student's assistance, complaints, health and safety and other college life issues and transmit the notice to the appropriate person within the organization or the university management. To contribute College periodic reviews, analysing and summarizing results, and sending them to the VCF and university management, as well as the writing of the annual evaluation report for relevant programmes / courses.  Learning & Teaching  To follow up that the learning and teaching methods employed on the programmes are appropriate to the university partners’ academic standards and the demands of the subject/s and the learning styles and developmental stages of the students. To suggest to the university directors and the Global and Academic directors, and supervise, external visits, student projects and College based activities.   Assessment & Feedback To adhere to university partner’s policies and share best practice in relation to assessment and feedback  Student Experience & Pastoral Care To identify opportunities for enhancement that will contribute to an exceptional student experience.   To encourage open and effective communication with the student body, recognising and resolving any issues that could impact on the quality of the student experience.  To work with the Operations and Careers heads to provide a high standard of pastoral care for students, and ensure support is in place for those with additional learning needs  To identify, respond and resolve problems faced by students, or transmit the notice to the appropriate person within the organization.  Professional Establish and maintain appropriate dialogues and relationships with the subject community and its audiences, nationally and internationally, continually updating knowledge of national academic developments, subject and skills, and relevant industrial and technological developments for the benefit of the programmes. Support and contribute to the programmes and the College’s external profile.  Make a constructive contribution to the development of the broader academic and cultural direction of the College as required. To maintain absolute discretion and confidentiality about all documents handled inside CNC or VCF respect our university partners or other third parties.   The responsibilities listed above encompass the key aspects of the role, however the Head of Academic Department position owner is expected to carry out any other duties required to deliver the objectives of the College and ensure a high-quality student experience.    The health and safety of staff and students is a shared responsibility of/with all college employees.    Any significant amendments to the key accountabilities will be discussed and agreed with the Academic Director and the Global Director, as necessary.   Essential criteria English Language fully competence, written and spoken Budegtary control and Finance knowledge and experience.  Understanding of mathematical principles, spreadsheet formulae, and data analysis Excell fully competence Previous team management experience Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Experience in education environment with a student-centred approach Relevant degree with expert knowledge in Education, Humanities, or other areas related to the programmes provision  An ability to work within a small committed academic and administrative team, and across a multicultural and international community   Desirable criteria Innovative approach to leadership, teaching, learning to support excellent teaching, pedagogy and inclusivity Knowledge and understanding of the social, cultural, environmental, political and economic issues that shape contemporary fashion media / business / communication practices and theoretical discourses.  Ability to contribute to advancing professional practice/research or scholarly activity in own area of specialism. Ability to build effective teams, networks or communities of practice and fosters constructive cross team collaboration Ability to lead on improving or adapting provision, to enhance student experience. Digital literacy and experience of teaching online.
