HEAD OF PROJECT DEVELOPMENT - SPAIN

A fast-growing renewable energy company, specializing in solar PV and energy storage (BESS) solutions, is seeking a Head of Project Development to lead its expansion efforts in Spain.Key Responsibilities:Lead the identification, development, and execution of solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects, driving the growth of the company’s project pipeline from origination to RTB.Develop and implement business strategies in coordination with the engineering, financing, legal, and tax teams to ensure the successful delivery of renewable energy projects.Oversee the structuring and negotiation of partnerships, joint ventures (JVs), and acquisition deals for solar PV and BESS projects, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth objectives.Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, regulatory authorities, landowners, grid operators, to ensure smooth project progression.Ensure projects reach "ready-to-build" status by navigating complex permitting processes, securing land agreements, grid connections, etc.Remain current on market trends and technological advancements in PV and energy storage, identifying new business opportunities.Collaborate with financial institutions and investors to structure project finance deals, ensuring the economic feasibility and profitability of each project.Lead the development of Financial and Investment Memorandums, ensuring accurate and timely internal reporting for senior management during key project milestones.Assess commercial viability and contractual terms of each opportunity, mitigating risks and optimizing project returns.Represent the company in negotiations with local authorities and other external partners to secure permits, contracts, and strategic partnerships for large-scale solar PV and energy storage projects.Job Requirements:Proven experience in the development of solar PV and BESS projects, with a strong understanding of Spain's regulatory framework, grid infrastructure, and permitting processes.A minimum of 10 years of experience in renewable energy, with a focus on business development or project development in the solar PV and BESS sectors.Demonstrated success in leading large-scale renewable energy projects through their complete lifecycle, from origination to financial close.Expertise in negotiating and closing high-value deals, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnerships.Strong network within the Spanish renewable energy market, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as landowners, developers, investors, and authorities.Familiarity with project financing structures and experience working with financial institutions or investors is highly desirable.Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional teams and influence key decision-makers.
