HEAD OF SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE

Our client, a Technological Start Up, is searching for a full-time position of Head of Security and Compliance for its global operations in Madrid. Reporting to the SVP of Information Technology, The Head of Security & Compliance will ensure that our systems and processes are secure, compliant with relevant regulations, and aligned with industry’s best practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cyber security, risk management, and regulatory compliance.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Design, grow and lead the Security and Compliance team (both internal and external), providing direction, mentorship, and support.Develop and implement strategies for Security, Compliance and Risk Management that align with the company’s goals.Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of security systems and controls.Ensure high standards of our Security Posture in a cloud-first environment.Monitor and manage compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, AI Act, DORA, NIS2, ISO).Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks.Collaborate with other business stakeholders to ensure security and compliance requirements are met in a DevSecOps environment.In coordination with the Infrastructure and Operations Team, design, implement and maintain Security standards, including incident response, network and systems security, vulnerability management, database encryption, access control, disaster recovery and business continuity plans within a Zero Trust architecture. Monitor and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions.Define sourcing strategy and manage vendor relationships. Stay current with industry trends and emerging threats, recommending improvements and innovations.Foster a culture of security awareness within the organization.SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English (C2) and Spanish, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.Excellent ability to conceptualize long term business goals.Ability to make informed and effective decisions.Strong people management skills.Familiar with start-up culture and ecosystem.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, or relevant field.10+ years of experience in Security and Compliance.Proven experience in building and leading teams.Strong knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO).Experience with risk management and regulatory compliance.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.International work experience working with international teams.A highly analytical mindset with superb problem-solving skills.Outstanding communication and presentation skills.BONUS POINTS FOR:Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA).Knowledge of the Aerospace industry.
