Physics PhD for Microscopy Product DevelopmentCompany Overview: IMPETUX, a spin-off of the University of Barcelona established in 2012, specializes in designing, producing, and marketing advanced optical tweezers and microscopy systems. We are currently seeking a skilled Physicist with expertise in R&D projects related to microscopy and photonics to join our Product Development team.Position Overview: We are looking for a PhD-qualified professional in Physics with a strong background in research, particularly in the development of optical systems for life sciences microscopy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, assembly, and alignment of optical systems for our current product lines, as well as for proposing and implementing solutions to technological challenges in the fields of microscopy and optical trapping.Key Responsibilities:Develop, assemble, and align optical systems for existing and new products.Address and solve technological challenges related to microscopy and optical trapping within the company.Install microscopy setups at customer site.Work autonomously in an optical laboratory with a high degree of scientific rigor.Collaborate effectively with team members to maintain fluid communication and a positive work environment.Required Qualifications:PhD in Physics or equivalent degree.Proven experience in research and development of microscopy systems.Expertise in the design, assembly, and alignment of optical systems.Proficiency in controlling optical and electronic devices (e.g., optical sensors, lasers, data acquisition cards).Basic programming skills in LabVIEW for instrumentation control and Python or Matlab for data analysis.Willingness to travel (10-15% of the time).Proficiency in English.Key Competencies:Strong analytic and problem-solving skills and a passion for technology.Ability to work independently and responsibly, with a focus on high-quality results.Excellent team collaboration and communication skills.Flexibility, empathy, honesty, and a strong sense of responsibility.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with optical tweezers and/or biophysics.Knowledge of 3D modelling software such SolidWorksKnowledge of ZEMAX optical simulation softwareKnowledge of Catalan and Spanish.
