SENIOR BACKEND ENGINEER

We are looking for a hands-on and experienced Senior Backend Java Developer to be part of the Engineering team at Wikiloc. As a Senior Backend Java Developer, you will drive and accelerate the development of our platform, ensuring a seamless experience for our global community of outdoor enthusiasts.About Wikiloc:We are Wikiloc, the platform to create, share, and explore outdoor trails with more than 14 million users, 50 million trails, 93 million pictures, and translated into 22 languages. We are a team of 32 professionals committed to strong sustainable values and motivated to empower more people to access the outdoors.We have been awarded by leading companies such as Apple, Google, Garmin, and National Geographic.What you will be doing:Participate in the definition of the product from an empathetic perspective for the end-user.Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and high-performance backend systems using Java and related technologies.Ensuring the robustness, performance, and scalability of the backend infrastructure.Analyzing and resolving technical issues, providing timely and effective solutions.Participating in code reviews, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.Mentoring and guiding junior developers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, applying this knowledge to improve our backend architecture.Upgrading our technological stack to up-to-date architecture.Create, suggest, and enjoy collaborating with other team members.Requirements:Ability to work independently and confidently in a changing, fast-paced environment where a high level of flexibility is required.5+ years of experience in backend development with a strong focus on Java.Proficiency in working with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Struts and Hibernate.Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud-based services (AWS, GCP, or Azure).Strong understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL), NoSQL databases (Redis) and Elastic Search.Analytical and data-driven mindset with the ability to extract valuable insights from system performance metrics.Product driven mindset.Focus on security best practices.Fluent in Spanish, English, and Catalan.Experience of security best practices.Experience with Ansible and Terraform.Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) will be a plus.
