STRUCTURED FINANCE ANALYST (FINANCIAL MODELLER)

Structured Finance Analyst (Financial Modeller) role descriptionVelto Renewables (Velto), a subsidiary of CDPQ (Caisse de dépôt et placement de Québec), is looking for a Structured Finance Analyst, Financial Modeller (FM) to join its team in Madrid, Spain. Velto and its subsidiaries currently hold a portfolio of operating solar PV assets of c. 200+ MW located in Spain and manages CDPQ´s 25% investment in the operation offshore wind farm London Array (630 MW) located in the UK, likewise, it is developing a portfolio of 1GW solar PV projects in Iberia. It is anticipated that Velto grows its investment and management portfolio to other technologies and other geographies in the upcoming months.The FM will manage and execute relevant financial tasks for Velto and will be part of the strategic business support to further develop Velto as a financially sound organization. The FM will conduct modelling and financing operations and is also responsible for managing all day-to-day loan facilities, valuation, budgeting, investment analysis, as well as support to special projects such as project financing, tax res-structuring, financial and tax due diligence, services providers tenders, etc.ResponsabilitiesProduce, manage and update complex business models for asset management, investment management, financing management, new project finance, development, and M&A activities;Cash Flow Budget compilation and monthly supervision to prevent any liquidity tension;Managing credit agreements and its covenants;Preparation of Compliance Certificates for the lenders;Preparation of any financial documentation requested by lenders, coordination w/ technical team the preparation of any technical request from lenders, Preparation of reporting packages and answering ongoing queries from lenders;Debt service follow up. Prepare a quarterly/biannually update on debt schedule repayment including the interest calculation;Prepare and/or update any investment/financing model if requested by the lenders to meet their requirements;Calculate every semester the cash distribution amount and prepare a cash distribution proposal to Management;Every quarter/semester (depending on the debt amortization schedule) prepare a reconciliation table to ensure all the MRA, DSRA and all cash restricted accounts are endowed with the amounts requested under the financing agreements;Understand in which situations a waiver should be requested and inform management if any of those situations arise;Prepare annual impairment test for tangible and intangible assets and investments;Yearly sound analysis deferred tax assets recoverability;Prepare SHL, UPL, distributions, and other intercompany financing instruments;Reporting: prepare and provide monthly, quarterly and year-end financials in an accurate and timely manner;Internal financial control: maintains appropriate financial and operational controls;Monitor and support the financial, accounting and commercial activities of the external asset management team;Support the development of financial and administration organizational policies.Produce comprehensive analysis and presentations based on the models for performance diagnosis and forecasting purposes;Support the coordination of overall investment and M&A activities;Support the financial, tax, modelling, etc. M&A activities in due diligence processes;Support project finance processes with various consultants;Support special projects such as tax re-structuring, purchase price allocation, tender process etc;Support the Asset Management team in the integration of new assets;CompetenciesExcellent command of complex financial models;Experience in financing renewable energy assets internationally;Solid knowledge of accounting principles;Must be autonomous and pro-active: develop own workstreams and work across many different functions;Strong aptitude to learn complex concepts (tax rules, energy policy, financial structures, corporate structures, etc.);Good understanding of commercial and financial concepts ruling asset management for renewables assets, desirable experience with regulated assets;Good level of comfort with data management: proficient at extracting and analysing large amounts of data and presenting information in an easy-to-understand way;Ability to develop and implement report templates, analytical tools, and other financial tools and financial models;Good team player with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;Interest and willingness to work on a start-up environment;High Level of Proficiency with MS Office suite of products (Excel in particular);Valid driver’s licence.Education and experienceBachelor’s and-or Master´s degree in relevant discipline (Business or Economics; Engineering with appropriate experience or additional training);CAP or similar credential;Excellent command of written and spoken English and Spanish;A minimum of 3 years of experience working in valuations and as a financial modeller in renewable energy;Experience financing renewable energy projects;Experience in financial asset management;Experience in M&A.
