What you’ll do The Government Security Team is responsible for providing operational support to government and law enforcement agencies in order to meet our obligations under the Investigatory Powers Act.
Technical solutions are at the heart of our ability to meet these obligations, and in the process help fight serious crime and save lives.

The Technical Compliance Team, develop, implement and support the complex and innovative systems that power our mission.
As a Technical operations lead within the team, you will be a key part of our design, implementation and assurance team bringing to bear your technical expertise, industry knowledge and people skills to ensure our solutions meet business, operational and external stakeholder needs.
You will be working in a team which is accountable for technical design and operational leadership for all compliance platforms.
Your first-rate technical, communication and stakeholder management skills will be utilised to the full as you function as an operational owner for external government stakeholders, Vodafone IT, Network and Security teams as well as our own capability delivery team.
You will manage multiple, varied demands and priorities to deliver and support systems and solutions that make a real difference in supporting Law Enforcement Agencies in the fight against serious crime whilst ensuring that Vodafone’s commercial interests continue to be protected and we meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
Key accountabilities include.
Support the development, implementation and maintenance of complex data retention and disclosure systems that allow our operational teams to comply with UK legislation.
Provide technical and operational input in all lifecycle phases for both new deployments and changes to existing capability.
Identify opportunities for and support the introduction of improvements to our systems and operational activities to ensure they are fit for purpose and continue to meet customer needs.
Provide technical input such as impact assessments to project managers that enables effective scoping, cost estimates and accurate delivery schedules to be produced.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders to ensure technical solutions meet operational stakeholder requirements, business needs and align with obligations under UK legislation.
Manage third-party suppliers to perform routine maintenance activities such as Service failovers, System changes, IT Health Checks/Penetration Tests Lead on fault and issue management in the production systems to ensure we maintain operational effectiveness.
Who you are Knowledge of public cloud concepts, such as serverless design.
AWS-specific knowledge and experience would be an advantage.
A good base understanding of Software Development Lifecycle and Project Management concepts.
Experience in use of scripting languages such as Python or shell would be beneficial.
Experience of UNIX/LINUX OS and use of GNU tools for troubleshooting.
Knowledge or experience of database technologies, including simple SQL.
Knowledge or experience of cloud datastore technologies (such as AWS Redshift) would be especially desirable.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to present complex technical solutions in easy-to-understand business language.
Enthusiastic and keen attitude to developing knowledge in existing and upcoming technologies.
Ability to build and maintain strong ongoing relationships across a business with internal and external stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
Knowledge of current relevant UK legislation (E.
IPA, GDPR.) advantageous.
Willing and able to undergo security vetting to ‘SC’ level (requires a minimum of five years employment history and UK residency).
Hold a full UK Driving licence.
It would be an advantage if the candidate had a technical understanding of telecommunication technologies including fixed and mobile networks in particular the associated metadata (CDRs) that originates from them.
