Committed to excellence and solving whatever problem the world throws at them, CIEE professionals work on international teams and are dedicated to advancing our 75-year-old mission to make the world a more peaceful place.    You will be part of a small team in Palma de Mallorca, which in 2024 received more than 200 students from US high schools and colleges. Who you are: The High School Program Manager (HSSA PM) leads the implementation of an effective operation for Summer High School CIEE outbound programs (HSSA) to enhance the participant experience onsite. As a central part of the role, the HSSA PM ensures that CIEE Palma de Mallorca´s programs run in accordance with the standard operating procedures, as well as for the highest levels of program quality and customer satisfaction. The position oversees Program Coordinators (PC), Program Leaders (PL) and Program Assistants (PA) who provide comprehensive guidance to participants as “first responders” regarding their cultural and local adaptation from pre-departure orientation, orientation and arrivals, in-country health and academic support, and social, cultural and homestay adaptation. This requires that the PM monitors administrative and budget efficiency as well as communications with US staff and Legal Guardians (LG) as needed. The position is also responsible for orientation delivery, evaluation, health and safety support and reporting, and participation in program long-range planning and development. What you'll do: Program Preparation     Manage the three Palma Summer High School programs preparation, including the revision / preparation of Outcomes Calendars, Schedules, Orientation, Placement tests, and Class group assignments. Manage the budget. Coordinate with Homestay coordinator in securing homestays. Hire, train instructors, and coordinate with them in localizing syllabus and developing activities that support the learning outcomes. Hire and train Program Coordinators (PC) for each program, Program Assistants (PA) and Program Leaders (PL). Review students’ health records and plan accordingly. Participate in the writing of program promotional materials and pre-departure materials.On-Program     Manage arrival (airport logistics, census, emergency notification test, Bystander Intervention Training, orientation for students and for PLs) and departure days (STAMP test, Students and Program Leader evaluations, airport logistics). Manage Program Coordinators and Program Assistants. Financial Management (securing funds for transportation, meals, stipends, entry tickets, tips, etc.). Manage the staff to ensure there is a system for 24/7 on-call support. In collaboration with the Center Director, manage escalated health, mental health and safety incidents, and behavioral and disciplinary cases, including communication with legal guardians (LG) when necessary. Oversee the successful preparations of newsletters, blogs and social media.Post-Program     Review PL evaluations. Review Students’ and LGs program evaluations. Plan action items for next year and end of summer report.Additional Duties     Communicate to Center Director any unusual situations in areas of responsibility. Participate in some overnight and daylong excursions with students, in conjunction with other CIEE staff members. Crisis and Emergency: in rotation with the other center staff, carry the 24-hour in-country emergency telephone. Additionally, this position requires willingness to step if/when major crisis (that can’t be handled by the person on call) take place with assigned students. Lead efforts to create opportunities for intercultural learning and exploration for staff and students. Participate in the design and implementation of extra-curricular options (visits, trips and activities) that complement the program’s learning goals. Travel once a year to a location where CIEE organizes a High School summit, together with other program managers or program coordinators.  During the low season, support the Study Center in other duties as assigned.Knowledge & Skill Requirements:     University’s degree required.    Fluency in Spanish and English (both written and verbal).    Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).    Knowledge of Spanish culture, history, business practices, and academic environment.    Professional work experience in an international education-related position.    Familiarity with U.S. high school education and/or direct experience with U.S. high school students.    Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and commitment to customer service.    Demonstrated integrity, initiative, and professionalism.    Ability to apply good judgement under pressure and to make reasoned and informed decisions in high-ambiguity situations.    Proven track record of successful team management.Working Conditions: The High School Program Manager is a newly created position to help support participants in CIEE Palma de Mallorca programs. The successful candidate is offered a full-time, forty (40) hour/week local work contract. Working hours will typically be Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. based on a flex time schedule to help compensate for “peak work” periods. The PM participates in occasional overnight or weekend excursions. The position is hired with a local contract and follows all local holidays and annual vacation days.The position oversees at least three direct reporting staff and has access to all participant applications and other personal student information. CIEE staff might be privy to personal, medical and/or academic problems of participants and must respect and maintain the confidentiality of such records.
