Summary / Role PurposeThe Senior R&D Engineer is responsible for the development and configuration of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the Senior R&D Engineer will use advanced technical and problem-solving skills to help the team tackle complex issues, satisfy customer requirements, and accomplish development objectives.You will integrate a dynamic Cloud Service Provider (CSP) Marketplace team and will contribute to shaping the future of cloud computing accessibility. As a team, we are passionate about providing scalable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions that redefine modern design and engineering landscapes.If you thrive in environments where innovation and collaboration are paramount and possess a solid proficiency in computer science devoted to High Performance Computing (HPC), then this role is for you.Join us in revolutionizing cloud computing and powering innovation that drives human advancement!Key Duties And ResponsibilitiesParticipates in planning, architecture, and researchPerforms complex development activities that may require extensive analysis in areas including user experience, software design and system architectureEmploys best practices and helps to maintain them through technical reviews and mentoringPerforms complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutionsResearches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. May work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutionsWorks independently with minimal supervision and may take on some planning and mentoring responsibilitiesMay be responsible for managing interns or co-ops but typically does not have direct reports Minimum Education/Certification Requirements And ExperienceBS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years’ experience, MS with 3 years’ experienceCommercial experience with software design and development methodologies Preferred Qualifications And SkillsSolid understanding of computer science fundamentalsComprehensive knowledge of Linux operating system internalsStrong experience configuring and managing Linux systems in a cloud environmentExperience with virtual machines, containers and orchestration platforms/toolsPractical experience with automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet…)Understanding of server hardware components especially in a HPC environmentGood familiarity with common networking protocols and remote visualization protocolsTechnical knowledge with web development, object-oriented design, software configuration management, scripting languages, data structures and algorithmsPassion for crafting robust and efficient codeExperience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial software development environmentUnderstanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domainAbility to diagnose and identify problem spanning multiple layers of abstractionStrong sense of ownershipGood communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a geographically distributed team At Ansys, we know that changing the world takes vision, skill, and each other.
