📍 Location: Office in Barcelona [Spain].📅 Date of Publication:01/10/2024🧬 About Us: The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe. The CNAG Consortium aims to carry out large-scale projects in DNA/RNA analysis for the improvement of quality of life in collaboration with the Spanish, European and International Research Community. CNAG researchers participate in major International Genome Initiatives such as the Human Cell Atlas (HCA), the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC), the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC), the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA) and the European Infrastructure for life-science information (ELIXIR), as well as in several EU-funded projects.🎯 The RoleWe have an opening for a Data Analyst in the Variant Calling and Analysis Team. The team collaborates with external and internal researchers on their sequencing analysis projects and works closely with CNAG’s Sequencing Unit and the Production Bioinformatics team. The team develops and operates state-of-the-art pipelines and tools while ensuring quality through a variety of mechanisms. The main focus is the identification and annotation of all kinds of germline variants and somatic mutations from short read and long read sequencing data, mostly from human data but also from many other organisms. In addition, the team collaborates in tertiary analysis in many projects.The successful candidate will join the Variant Calling and Analysis team, coordinated by Dr. Raul Tonda (https://www.cnag.eu/teams/bioinformatics-unit/variant-calling-and-analysis). The team is part of the CNAG Bioinformatics Unit (led by Dr. Sergi Beltran), which has over 30 members and offers continuous growth and support on a professional level.The team works in a stimulating scientific environment, applying state-of-the-art technologies to breakthrough research projects in Genomics that have an impact on people’s health.✍️ Main tasks and responsibilitiesPerform project analyses with the rest of the team members and, if necessary, with other members from the CNAG. Checking analysis quality.Transfer of results to collaborators. Contribute to the implementation of analysis pipelines.Benchmarking of genomics data analysis pipelinesParticipate in competitive projects with tasks closely related to the Team’s know-how.💼 Whom would we like to hire? MSc in Bioinformatics or related discipline.A minimum experience of 1 year in the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing whole exome or genome data.Solid understanding of cancer genomics.
