DIRECTOR ANALYST - DATA ARCHIVING, COMPLIANCE, AND LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT

About the role.

Your focus will be on both the pragmatic research that assists a client in solving today’s problems, and provocative research that challenges a client’s assumptions on how the future will play out.
You should be curious, have strong listening skills, and be able to develop compelling research insights to solve large enterprise IT challenges.
Key area of coverage will be in enterprise IT data lifecycle management.
You will be advising IT infrastructure and operations leaders responsible for making data archiving, data retention, digital communications governance, and data lifecycle management decisions.
You will apply your broad knowledge of technologies, vendors, processes, and best practices to provide actionable insights to our clients.
What you will do.
Collaboratively write and publish analysis and positions at a regular cadence through evidence-based research Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice through virtual interactions Communicate complex concepts concisely and with authority Engage senior-level executives by building relationships, establishing credibility, conducting substantive content discussions, diagnosing needs, solving problems, and identifying relevant resources Perform research by reading, networking with clients, industry contacts, vendors and analysts, and by evaluating and analyzing information Develop vendor comparison and market evaluation research documents such as Gartner Magic Quadrants and Market Guides Present at conferences as an industry expert Partner with sales and service delivery partners to increase account growth, retention, and engagement What you will need.
Bachelor's degree 7+ years of experience in an enterprise IT data lifecycle management role/industry  Experience working with major vendors and products in the data lifecycle management, data archiving, and/or data compliance domain (e.
., Smarsh, Proofpoint, Global Relay, Datadobi, Varonis) Experience working with digital communications governance solutions that can monitor and enforce corporate compliance policies on employee communication tools such as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and WhatsApp Experience implementing data lifecycle management tools, policies and procedures, such as data discovery, data classification, data retention, and data disposition Knowledge of data storage optimization techniques (e.
., tiering, relocation, archiving, deletion) to reduce enterprise data costs and risks Understanding of the key considerations and tradeoffs when managing the lifecycle of structured and unstructured data in the public cloud, hybrid cloud, SaaS, on-premises, and edge Understanding of emerging data lifecycle management trends, technologies, and innovations Nice to haves.
Experience in an enterprise IT backup and data protection role/industry Experience working with major backup vendors and products (e.
., Veeam, Rubrik, Commvault, Cohesity, Veritas, Dell) Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies for hybrid and public cloud workloads Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies for SaaS applications, such as Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Salesforce Knowledge of IT disaster recovery strategies, tools, and techniques Background in cyber recovery and ransomware protection #LI-SK1 #Remote Who are we?   At Gartner, Inc.
