EMBEDDED DSP / SDR ENGINEER

In Sateliot we are looking for a Embedded DSP / SDR Engineer, willing to face the challenges of a fast-growing space telecom startup!Ready to be part of the challenge?Who we areSateliot is a Barcelona-based Startup in the New Space sector, becoming the first satellite telecommunications operator that will provide global and continuous connectivity to all the elements that will make up the massive Internet of Things (IoT) universe under the 5G protocol.In order to do so, Sateliot is launching a constellation of last generation nanosatellites, located at low altitude that act as mobile towers. Sateliot is the perfect complement for large telecommunications companies by providing them with the necessary infrastructure where terrestrial technologies do not arrive.Your missionIn your role as an Embedded DSP / SDR Engineer, you will join the Embedded HW and SW team and work in collaboration with an assembly of skilled engineers in charge of evolving Sateliot’s space capabilities to provide the first and best NB-IoT NTN service to emerging users around the world.You will be involved in the design, implementation and validation of flight software and firmware for our 5G NB–IoT Satellite Payload. Your contributions will be crucial throughout various phases of the Sateliot solution evolution, from conceptualization and lab testing to in-orbit testing and the operational phase of the service.Your main functionsDevelop, integrate, and optimize beamforming algorithms for phased array systems in a satellite environment.Integrate existing (previous-gen) firmware module implementations into the testing environment and ensure compatibility with current-gen systems.Model signal processing algorithms in MATLAB based on written algorithm specifications and/or existing code.Integrate MATLAB reference implementations into the testing environment.Implement and optimize DSP code for respective firmware modules on current-gen DSPs, and set up reference tests in the testing environment.Determine, analyze, and evaluate deviations between previous-gen and current-gen implementations, and correct where needed.Determine, analyze, and evaluate MIPS and memory consumption of modules, and improve performance where necessary.Integrate and debug modules within the actual HW radio chain to ensure seamless operation.RequirementsBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.Hands-on experience developing and validating SW for COTS FPGA RFSoCs, MPSoCs and Transceivers, is a must.Experience with embedded Linux systems.Proficient with embedded software programming languages: C/C++.Experience with Python or other scripting languages.Experience in the design of on-board software for spacecraft or for critical systems.Experience in DSP programming. Familiarity with OFDM signal processing.Knowledge of RF domain and one PHY layer standard based on OFDM.Experience in satellite communication systems and phased array technology.Hands-on experience implementing and validating beamforming algorithms for phased arrays.Ability to prototype new features and algorithms in MATLAB or equivalent and demonstrate using simulation tools.Experience in setting up and conducting system-level tests in both simulated and real-world environments.Experience with AI and ML techniques for edge computing is a plus.Familiarity with ECSS standards is a plus.Familiarity with 3GPP standards and particular knowledge of NB-IoT NTN requirements is a plus.Experience working with GIT repositories is a plus.Previous experience in the NewSpace field and/or IoT sector is a plus.Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.Exceptional communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and third-party providers.Ability to work independently and take ownership of design and testing activities.Strong organizational skills to manage deadlines and shifting priorities.The applicant must be eligible to work and live in the EU.What you will find when working at SateliotYou will be part of one the fastest-growing start-ups in Spain with global reach along getting into the challenging world of New Space & Telecommunication.Our culture is based on embracing openness by welcoming multicultural talent, being respectful with everybody and being open to exchange ideas.
