Company DescriptionBerthon Spain is a yacht refit, repair, and maintenance company in Palma de Mallorca. The company offers bespoke yachting services to the Mediterranean yachting community. Berthon Spain is part of the Berthon International Sales Group which has offices in the UK, Scandinavia and USA. Berthon Spain head office is located in STP shipyard, with custom workshop and boat storage facilities in Son Oms.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time land-based position for an Engineering Project Manager located in Palma. This is a senior position within the engineering department. You would primarily be based in the workshop in Son Oms, and will be required to travel to and from the various marinas and shipyards in Palma on a daily basis. The position would suit any candidate already based on the island, who is looking for a long term career. You would be responsible for:• Checking the progress of large projects on site and assisting with technical information to the engineers when necessary.• Taking full control on certain projects, at the discretion of the Head of Technical.• Taking over some of the day to day running of the department in the absence of the Head of Technical.• Communicating with captains and/or owners, building client relationships.• Managing ad hoc changes to scheduling and staff requirements, thinking on your feet in time critical environments.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have a broad, in depth understanding of marine engineering.Experience as chief engineer on board, or a similar role. Knowledge of sailing yacht systems is an advantage.Must possess strong leadership skills and be able to manage people.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Be energetic and pro active.Well presented and knows how to behave on a superyacht.Candidates must have a Spanish or EU driving licence. Candidates must be fiscally resident in Spain with permission to work here.Standard 22 days paid holiday plus state holidays, per year.
