Iberostar's food service also accounts for a carbon footprint estimated to be higher than all of its electricity consumption. With commitments such as sending no waste to landfill by 2025, reducing its emissions by 50% from its food service by 2030, and sourcing 100% of its seafood from responsible sources by 2025, sustainability in Iberostar's food service is of paramount importance.In line with our concept of Honest Food (fresh, homemade and responsibly-sourced products, and multicultural offering), the mission of this strategic role will be to strengthen Iberostar’s world-class food service ensuring the highest standard in terms of product quality and variety while introducing advances and innovations in the ways we source our products, we plan and design our food menus/wheels and we present and deliver food to our guests.Main guiding principles behind these innovations are the enhancement of nutritional and health-related aspects, the reduction of food-related emissions, the introduction of regenerative agriculture practices and the attainment of positive social impacts on the communities and on our destinations, including organizations and local companies. Regarding this, this role will take on the scoping, evaluation, and prioritization of opportunities for strategic engagement in the sector (region specific), new collaborative partnerships, ensuring the new strategic engagements are correctly aligned with the strategy.Reporting to the Director of Product Sustainability, your main responsibilities will include:Bring a holistic perspective and understanding of Food Systems to Iberostar and engage with and work alongside key internal stakeholders in Food & Beverage, Operations, Procurement and Sustainability.Analyze current food menus and leverage existing data from food waste to introduce modifications in food wheels jointly with Corporate Chefs and Country Leads.Introduce the perspective of emissions’ reduction throughout Iberostar’s food process and coordinate its implementation, from purchasing to designing food menus and the overall food offering.Analyze how food is purchased in Iberostar and, working alongside the Purchase Department, introduce innovations to mitigate environmental impacts, to reduce plastic waste from packaging and to minimize food-related emissions.Lead the adoption of packaging solutions that contain recycled content, are reusable or recyclable that helps reduce material waste and lower emissions.Lead the introduction of regenerative sourcing of produce, based on the redesign of our food system to reflect this natural cycle more closely and help biodiversity, people and the circular economy.Coordinate the collection and analysis of results on food systems, and define means of verification.Keep up to date and inform key stakeholders about trends and evolution of Food Systems and of other related topics.Support business development, acquisition and proposal development for engagements with external organizations and companies in the destinations where we operate. Build partnerships and alliances with relevant stakeholders and investigate potential opportunities.Support Chefs in the reduction of Food Waste by analyzing results from our hotels and by reviewing and introducing innovations in the way food is presented to guests.Alongside the Purchase Department and the Sustainability Office, lead the development of Sustainable seafood sourcing while complying with relevant laws and regulations.Who is the ideal person for this job?The ideal person for this role has a strategic vision, ability to influence and motivate peers, emotional intelligence and adaptability to build relationships with diverse audiences. As well as analytical and problem solving skills, anticipation and proactivity, creativity and innovation.Studies:Bachelor's degree of Science in Agroecology, Agricultural Studies, Sustainable food systems, Nutrition or similar. Valuable Master's degree in Sustainable food systems, Sustainable Supply Chain Management or similar.Experience / Background:Experience in designing and implementing menus and more specifically plant-forward menus.Experience working closely with Purchase/Procurement Departments to drive sustainability in the food systems supply chain (i.e. through regenerative agriculture, sustainable sourcing of seafood, reduction in carbon footprint, innovation in food packaging).Experience in sourcing sustainable seafood or otherwise pursuing food with eco certifications and traceability in the supply chain for specific products.Corporate/advisor Chef in hotels or restaurant chains.Food Systems specialist from a large food retailer or from a food manufacturing company.Consultant in a consulting firm for the food industry. Relevant working knowledge in the field of food systems and food security.Knowledge of (climate resilient/smart) sustainable food systems and strategies, food- and nutrition security, food and agri-market systems and value-chains.Languages: Bilingual Spanish/English.Tools: Google Workspace G-Suite or familiar with similar professional workspace.
