ICFO is a research center located in the Mediterranean Technology Park in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, and currently hosts 500+ people, including researchers, PhD students and staff personnel. Today, in its area of specialization and category, the institute is consistently ranked among the highest-quality research institutions worldwide.We are currently looking for a visionary and inspiring leader for our NanoFabrication Laboratory (NFL). Our NanoFabrication Laboratory is an ISO 6/7 cleanroom core research facility that serves as the epicenter for groundbreaking research at ICFO. The NFL is open to all ICFO research groups, enabling collaboration and cutting-edge innovation.The Head of NanoFabrication Laboratory will provide top-tier scientific support to our laboratory users. In this role, you will promote internal and external collaborations, secure funding, and drive innovation in our research and equipment.Key Responsibilities:The main responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to) the following:Ensure Smooth Operations: Ensure the cleanroom and its equipment operate smoothly and efficiently.Supervise the NFL Team: Manage planning, evaluations, and career development of team members.Engage with Stakeholders: Contact, inform, and update ICFO group leaders, direct the NFL steering committee, and foster a sense of community.Manage Finances: Oversee and manage the finances of the NFL to ensure financial stability and growth.Promote Internal Collaborations: Facilitate teamwork within ICFO and promote collaborative projects among research groups.Drive Research Activities: Initiate and lead new research projects within the NFL.Pursue Funding Opportunities: Seek financial support through grant applications and other funding opportunities.Coordinate Equipment Procurement: Manage the purchase of equipment, including defining tender specifications.Facilitate Academic Collaborations: Manage collaborations with external academic users.Foster Industry Partnerships: Build relationships with companies and industry to advance ICFO’s mission.Requirements:Candidates must hold, at the time of contract initiation, an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in Engineering, in Physics, in Science or similar.The candidate should have:Experience in a similar position, preferably in an international research and/or academic environment.Capacity to represent the NFL unit in academic, industrial and social environments.Knowledge of strategic planning and resource allocation.Strong communication, people/team management and problem-solving skills.Experience in grant applications to obtain resources for the NFL unit.Hands-on experience in processes and clean room equipment maintenance is an asset.We offer:The opportunity to become a member of a dynamic and internationally recognized research institution and to collaborate with leading experts from around the world in the field of nanotechnology.Full-time permanent position.Salary according to the institutional salary scales.If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of science and technology and are ready to lead a team that is making a real impact, we want to hear from you!Know someone who would be a perfect fit?
