Context And Mission The Computer Applications in Science and Engineering (CASE) department is looking for a researcher for the BSC Fusion group (fusion.
sc.
s).
The successful candidate will become an active member of the group.
The group is a multidisciplinary team that includes mathematicians, physicists and computer scientists.
The research project will involve code development for the refinement of our magnetic equilibrium module using finite element methods (CutFEM) and HPC techniques in the HPC multiphysics framework Alya.
Key Duties Computer-based modeling using state-of-art simulations tools and AI techniques.
Development and validation of simulations tools.
Implementation of finite element methods for plasma physics.
Requirements Education Master’s degree or equivalent in fusion engineering physics or numerical methods.
Bachelor’s degree in physics, mathematics or computer sciences.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience Knowledge of plasma physics and fusion engineering gained through a MSc degree and related research experience (minimum of 2 years).
Experience in code development of magnetic equilibrium for magnetic confinement fusion (minimum of 1 year).
Experience in Fortran and Python (minimum of 2 years).
Experience in research projects and in the publication and/or presentation of research results as first author (minimum of 1 year).
Experience in code development in multiphysics frameworks (minimum of 1 year) Knowledge of HPC techniques and platforms (minimum of 1 year) Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience Excellent communication skills including a good command of the English and Spanish language (written and spoken) are required.
