The Vall d´Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) Seeks a “Laboratory Technician”Reference: 2024-054-01Application deadline: 15.09.2024Number of vacancies: 1Job description:The Prostate Cancer Translational Research Group is seeking an experienced Research Technician to join our group to conduct next-generation sequencing experiments, with a focus on liquid biopsy assays.Our group focuses on studying and testing hypothesis-based targeted therapies in prostate cancer and we are especially committed to applying the potential clinical value of our findings to clinical trials. Within our group, 4-6 people are dedicated to NGS assays, including wet and dry lab scientists.Find more about our research here: https://www.vhio.net/prostate-cancer-translational-research-group/We are seeking an organized, motivated and team-oriented individual with previous experience working in a clinical/translational research laboratory either in the academic or private sector. The candidate should have previous experience in working with patient plasma/blood samples as most of the projects they will be involved aim to develop novel liquid biopsy NGS tests. The tasks to be carried out will be:Processing, aliquoting and storage of prostate cancer patient’s blood and plasma samples from different studies.DNA and RNA extraction from tissue, saliva and plasma/blood samples.Preparation of next-generation sequencing libraries.Occasionally, the candidate may need to help in cell culture, cloning and transfection tasks to provide support to other projects of the group.Requirements: What do we need?Experience with handling human tumor samplesTraining in Good Clinical Practice for managing clinical research specimens.Experience in next-generation sequencingExperience with maintaining databasesExceptional attention to detail, scientific rigor, and strong organisation, troubleshooting and multitasking skills.Desirable skills:Additionally, the following will also be favourably considered:Experience with ddPCR, qPCR and FISHExperience with assays for isolation of circulating tumor cells and/or cell cytometryExperience in preparing sections from paraffin blocksThe candidate is expected to be able to communicate well in English, even if it is not his/her first language.Additional information:Potential candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, letter of intent, and at least one reference using the form below or via email to selecciorrhh@vhio.net, including the reference “Ref. 2024-054-01” in the subject line of your email.
