LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (REF: TECHNICIAN RM)

The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to work in Prof.
Ruben Martín’s research group.

Tasks and Responsibilities.
The candidate will take care of the analytical equipment in the laboratory, assist in maintain high level of work quality, ensure safety, quality and efficiency of the crew, and negotiate costs with suppliers and clients.
Requirements.
The candidates must have a PhD in chemistry We are looking for a candidate with a solid and proven expertise as a technician, laboratory maintenance, expertise in repairing conventional laboratory equipment (HPLC, GC, Glovebox, photoreactors) and that has given support of a large research group in the field of chemistry.
The candidates must submit the following documents.
(a) a CV (specifying any relevant experience along with a detailed description of previous accomplishments); (b) a cover letter highlighting the interest in the position, the reasons for applying to our group, his/her particular strengths & weaknesses, future career plans, hobbies, self-motivation and ability to work on a team; (c) names and contact addresses of two referees that might be willing to write down a recommendation letter Valued qualities.
Candidates must have a proven record in giving support as a technician to a large research group in the field of chemistry, and with experience in maintaining and repairing conventional equipment in a chemically-oriented research group such as HPLC, GC, Glovebox an photoreactors Capable of working in a team and decision making He/she should be a motivated, open-minded, dynamic and capable of working on a international team with different nationalities and cultures.

Selection Process ICIQ’s selection process usually entails the following phases.
Pre-selection.
The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise as reflected on the candidates’ CVs.
Interview & practical exercise.
Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and the appointed Selection Committee.
The interview will include a practical scientific glass blowing exercise at ICIQ.
Offer Letter.
Once the successful candidate is selected, the People Unit will extend a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary and overall job conditions.
