PHD POSITION TO APPLY TO A TORRES QUEVEDO CONTRACT

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our R+D+i area, linked to the Torres Quevedo 2025 call. This role involves leading a groundbreaking project focused on the microencapsulation of natural extracts using biodegradable polymers aimed at enhancing crop nutrition and resilience against abiotic stress. The project is fully aligned with the company’s strategic vision and commitment to innovation, and it offers an opportunity to contribute to the creation of innovative solutions that positively impact the agricultural sector.Key Responsibilities:Design, plan, and conduct innovative research in the field of microencapsulation of natural extracts for agricultural applications.Conduct, coordinate and manage different project advancements, milestones, and tasks; collaborate closely with cross-functional teams acting as a bridge of communication between project partners. Drive scientific advancements and help translate them into novel solutions with market application.Required profile:PhD in relevant areas such asBiochemistry or biotechnology: Focus on bioactive compounds, antioxidants, and mechanisms of biological action.Materials science or chemical engineering: Focus on microencapsulation, biodegradable polymers, and controlled release.Experience and technical skills: Practical experience in formulating products with targeted release.Experience in identifying and using bioactive plant extracts and validating them in agricultural contexts.Practical knowledge of how drought, salinity, or extreme temperatures affect crops.Proficiency in techniques such as spray drying, coacervation, emulsion, interfacial polymerization, and other encapsulation methods using natural polymers.Ability to design experiments, analyze results, and translate them into applicable solutions.Experience in writing and executing research projects. Experience in collaborative projects between industry and academia.Familiarity with regulations related to agricultural inputs and sustainability certifications.Focus on developing eco-friendly and biodegradable products.Knowledge in the use of techniques such as microscopic techniques, chromatography (HPLC and GC, among others), spectroscopy (UV-Vis, FTIR, NMR), and thermal analysis (TGA, DSC) for characterization of extracts and materials.Previous experience working under GLP conditions and a strong commitment to applying rigorous scientific methodology.Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary industrial and academic teams. Open-minded, proactive, adaptive, and resilient. Capacity to act as a driver of continuous improvement by proposing new experiments, procedures, and cutting-edge technologies.
