The Requirements Engineer in Mercedes-Benz plays a pivotal role in identifying, documenting, and managing requirements for software development projects. This role acts as a bridge between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring that projects are aligned with best practices in the IT industry including eliciting, documenting, analyzing, validating, and managing system requirements to ensure a clear understanding of project expectations and to facilitate the creation of a solution that meets the needs of the stakeholders.Description of role and responsibilities:Support the product and process teams in describing their requirements in demands according to the quality criteria, and during the discovery phases.Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand, analyze, and document their requirements, objectives, and constraints.Derive requirements from business processes in alignment with the business partner.Ensure demands are ready for development by a professional engineering team.Apply advanced requirements techniques to ensure the clarity, completeness, and traceability of requirements, using tools like JIRA and Confluence.Translate business needs into technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria, facilitating effective communication with software development teams.Maintain a comprehensive requirements repository, including use cases, process models, and data models, to support project documentation and change management.Ensure that requirements are in alignment with industry standards and best practices related to software development and quality assurance.Qualifications:Education degree & technical experienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Business Information Systems, Business Analysis, Computer Science, or a STEM related field.Relevant certifications, such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), are an advantage.A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business analysis, requirements engineering, and software development.Technical knowledge/Accountabilities:Proficiency in advanced requirements engineering techniques, including use case modeling, process modeling, and data modeling.Supporting the demand management by creation of software specificationsSupporting the product owner in user story writing and business process modelling by providing the technical background on the to be implemented solutionSupporting the developer in providing technical documentation artifacts aligned with the functional scope of the to be implemented solutionSupporting the software architect in building system architecture documentation artifacts aligned with the functional scope of the to be implemented solutionProviding business domain specific expertise on how to integrate the right set of services for a given purposeFamiliarity with quality assurance and testing procedures to validate requirements.Experience with industry-standard tools such as JIRA and Confluence for requirements management and collaboration.Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, SAFe and Waterfall.Experience:Proven experience in gathering, documenting, and managing complex business and system requirements for software projects.Successful collaboration with cross-functional teams, including software developers, project managers, and business stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into actionable technical requirements and user stories.Knowledge of project management methodologies and the ability to adapt to various project management approaches.English:Proficient in English, both written and spoken.Knowledge of the German language is desirable.Other Preferences:In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate should possess a set of vital soft skills for the role, including agility to swiftly adapt to evolving situations, a strong sense of empowerment, fostering trust and inspiration, a co-creative mindset that thrives on collaborative innovation, a relentless drive to excel and achieve success, unwavering customer orientation aimed at continually delighting our clients, a deep-rooted sense of purpose, a pioneering spirit that embraces innovation, and a commitment to continuous learning to stay at the forefront of industry advancements.
