RESEARCHER ON NUTS PLANT PHYSIOLOGY AND APTITUDE OF FOOD PROCESSING FOR THE FRUIT PRODUCTION PROGRAM

IRTA is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Researcher on Plant Physiology and Aptitude of Food processing to lead and carry out research, innovation and demonstration projects and technology transfer activities in Nut Food processing affected by cultivar and orchard management (harvest date, nutrition, water supply, environmental conditions, …) in the Fruit Production Program. Research lines will be focused on almond and hazelnut, with some activities on other nuts. The Researcher will develop his/her activities in a collaborative environment, interacting with teams including breeding and water use efficiency. We are looking for somebody with a developed sense of curiosity, humble in attitude and that develops well in teamwork and collaboration environment. The researcher will interact with the fruit industry providing scientifical and technical leadership.Head of the Program: Dr Luís AsínJob location: IRTA-Mas Bové (Constantí)Full-time position: 37.5 h/weekTerms of appointment: permanent full-time permanent position or full-time tenure track position subject to the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.Gross annual salary: to be resolved according to the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.Employee Benefits: 22 vacation days, 3 days of family & work conciliation, 45h of personal days, Friday afternoon off, Compressed Summer schedule from 15/06 to 15/09, Conciliation schedule.Tasks and Responsibilities:Lead and coordinate research activities on Nut Food processing and Plant Physiology, integrated in a multidisciplinary research team.Lead, plan and/or participate in the design and planning of future research activities on including grant applications to both national and international competitive research calls.Participate actively in the development and execution of agreements with private companies.Collaborate in the transfer of knowledge and technologies to the private sector.Contribute to dissemination activities through regular peer-reviewed and technical publications, contributions at national and international conferences and workshops ensuring maximum impact.Strengthen the research collaboration within IRTA as well as with other national and international researchRequired qualifications and experience:Ph.D. Agrifood science and technology, Agronomy or Biology.At least 2 years of postdoctoral experience in research institutions.Proven research experience in Nut food Processing and Pomology research.Proven track record in publishing in peer‐review scientific journals.Experience in interacting with the agricultural sector and the scientific community.Experience in participation in competitive calls.Capacity to foresee, plan and write R+D projects, reports and technical documents.Proven skills and experience in nut orchard management.Experience in statistical analysis for data generated in this research line.Sound computational skills with advanced user level of the Office package (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and data analysis software (SAS, R, Xlstat, JMP, other).Full driving license for Europe and travelling availability.Desirable requirements:Research experience in almond or other woody crops.Knowledge of fruit industry concertation, technology transfer and fostering innovation added value.Professional experience in international environments.Strong organization capacity and ability to learn and successfully work within multidisciplinary teams and experience to motivate research teams.Capacity and skills to develop and encourage strong collaborative links with the national and international scientific community and the fruit industry sector (Catalan, Spanish and European).Mind-oriented to challenges and focus on results.Communication and team working attitude.Good integration in multidisciplinary teams.Organization and motivation.Compromise and cooperation.Languages:Proficiency in EnglishKnowledge of Catalan, Spanish and French will also be valued.Application process:If you wish to be considered for this position, please, apply via our Recruitment Platform to the job post with reference 146-24 and upload your CV and motivation letter until 30/10/2024.
