The Scientist will use imaging and/or fluid assays to identify biosignatures supporting end to end strategies for central nervous system disorders.
They will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on the selection of biomarkers relevant to the targeted mechanisms of action and devise implementation plans to meet the precision medicine goals such as pre-screening, screening, stratification, monitoring, and treatment endpoints.
In this role they will recommend biosignatures, implement and detail computational processes where needed, and work with CROs and data scientists for at scale deployment when necessary.
They would build and develop collaborative relationships, providing guidance and facilitating effective communication within the team.
Additionally, they must possess exceptional critical thinking skills, including curiosity, creativity and innovation, data analysis and interpretation.
The successful candidate will work with internal and external collaborators, partners, CROs, and Key Opinion Leaders, to develop and implement biomarker signatures with translational impact, monitor biomarkers in ongoing trials, and provide data to drive clinical strategy forward.
They collaborate with Biomarker Project Scientists and Laboratory Personnel and interact -across functions with Scientists in Neuroscience Discovery, Data Sciences and Digital Health, Experimental Medicine and Clinical Development.
Key Responsibilities.
Acts as a highly trained individual contributor by independently conducting and interpreting translation of research to human clinical trials.
Leads lab-based translational medicine projects.
Contributes to clinical research studies (data analysis, QC, etc.) and supports the study design and protocol development.
Supports external collaborations and innovation projects, such as government funded projects or collaborative research programs, in support of a compound development program, translational strategy, DAS/TA strategy, or newly defined development or disease area opportunity.
Supports identification of appropriate biomarkers and assists in maintaining clinical and patient safety as well as regulatory compliance.
Drafts study documentation and findings for regulatory submissions.
Monitors proper recording of information and reviews information to draw appropriate conclusions.
Coaches more junior colleagues in techniques, processes, and responsibilities.
Understands and applies Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with team.
Drives effective communication and coordination between various teams to ensure alignment.
Resolves conflicts, addresses challenges and facilitates problem-solving among team members.
Conducts comprehensive analysis to find opportunities and potential risks.
Assists in the risk assessments for strategic projects.
Qualifications Ph.
D.
(Applied Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, data sciences or related field) with at least 3 years relevant postdoctoral experience is required.
Knowledge and experience with MRI/PET/EEG quantification and/or proteomics is required.
Experience in hands-on R and/or Python is required.
Strong influential skills, with the ability to empower and inspire teams is required.
Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building abilities is required.
Experience in a cross-functional environment is required.
Strong strategic and analytical skills to make data-driven recommendations is required.
Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to think long term is required.
Strong communication and presentation skills to optimally convey sophisticated ideas to partners is required.
Hands on experience identifying biosignatures with real-world performance validation is strongly preferred.
Experience implementing biomarkers in clinical trials is strongly preferred.
Established scientific achievement as proven by a robust publication record is required.
The position is onsite in La Jolla, CA and may require up to 10% travel.
