SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST - A.I LAB

Quotacom is proud to be supporting the development of a newly created, large A.I Lab in Barcelona, specifically focussed within the Aviation / Airline industry.This position will work directly for the Global consulting firm responsible for building the A.I Lab on-behalf of the client.Your work will involve using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to extract actionable insights, develop predictive models, and contribute to data-driven strategies. You will use structured, unstructured and streaming data, and communicates clearly the results and implications of the data analysis and hypothesis driven approach to senior leaders, including productionising with product delivery teams.• Lead data science from ideation (hypothesis) to deployment, working with stakeholders across the aviation industry.• Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to analyse large and complex data sets, such as flight data, weather data, air traffic data, Operational data and customer data etc.• Develop and maintain data pipelines, data models, dashboards and reports to support data-driven decision making.• Communicate insights and recommendations to internal and external audiences, using clear and compelling data visualisations and narratives.• Lead, Mentor and coach a team of data scientists and collaborate with other data science teams within the organisation. Key Responsibilities:1. Data Analysis and Exploration:• Collect, clean, and preprocess data from diverse sources to prepare it for analysis from sources like databases, APIs, Web Scraping or surveys.• Explore data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies. 2. Statistical Analysis:• Apply statistical techniques to test hypotheses, conduct A/B testing, and draw inferences from data.• Perform multivariate analysis to discover relationships within data. 3. Machine Learning:• Develop and implement machine learning models for predictive and prescriptive analytics.• Evaluate and fine-tune model performance, including regression, classification, and clustering algorithms. 4. Data Visualisation:• Create meaningful data visualisations and dashboards to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders.• Use tools across multiple technologies like Tableau, Power BI, Python libraries, spark, R, SQL, for visualisation. 5. Predictive Modeling:• Build predictive models for forecasting, recommendation systems, and optimisation.• Employ time series analysis, NLP, and other advanced modeling techniques as needed. 6. Data Storytelling:• Communicate findings and insights effectively through reports, presentations, and storytelling.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-based decision-making. 7. Data Governance and Ethics:• Ensure data privacy and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).• Implement data governance practices to maintain data quality and integrity. 8. Continuous Learning:• Stay updated with the latest data science and AI/ML trends and technologies.• Share knowledge with the team and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. 9. Mentor & support & lead• Support and upskill other junior data scientists• Help drive uplift in skills in Data science across current teams• Bring a fresh and up to date approach to data science within the organisation• Lead several data scientists deployed to an initiative to extract the optimal value whilst balancing priorities and effort. Qualifications:• Bachelor's or master's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field.• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related role.• Strong proficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning.• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.• Experience with data visualisation tools and libraries.• Knowledge of data manipulation, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and data cleansing.• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Soft Skills:• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.• Curiosity and passion for learning new skills and technologies.• Able to operate in a fast paced, ambiguous environment driving value through structured thinking and hypothesis driven testing.• Able to be in new Barcelona A.I Lab – 2-3 days per week• Comfortable communicating with senior executives• Energised to take on the most complex problems to solve• Passion for raising the standard and credibility of Data science within an organisation, and group of companies.For more information and to schedule a discreet meeting, please contact Jason Cole at: jc@quotacom.comAt Quotacom, we take the security and privacy of your personal data very seriously.
