Your Role & Our Team IRB Barcelona is seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior Software Engineer to support the cutting edge research line of the Biomedical Genomics Lab led by Nuria Lopez-Bigas.
The position involves contributing to the technical design and assessment of resources needed to develop innovative bioinformatics tools and projects.
The successful candidate will give support to the technical needs for the bioinformaticians and researchers in the development of pipelines and web front-end and back-end functionalities.

Proven experience in Software Engineering in Cancer Genomics environments.
Proven experience in bioinformatic software development and/or front/back-end web development.
Excellent analytical skills, creativity, and a team-oriented mindset.

Key responsibilities Assist in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments under the guidance of the principal investigator or senior researchers.
Develop and optimize experimental protocols and methodologies.
Contribute to data collection, analysis, and interpretation of research results.
Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment and instruments.
Implement advanced laboratory techniques and procedures relevant to the research area.
Train and support junior lab members and students in technical procedures and best practices.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures and results.
Utilize statistical and bioinformatics tools for data analysis and visualization.
Assist in the preparation of research publications, presentations, and reports.
Supervise and mentor lab staff, technicians and assistants, may include Predoctoral Researchers.
Coordinate specific research projects, ensuring alignment with overall lab objectives.
Collaborate with internal and external research partners on joint projects.
Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables effectively.
Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols and institutional guidelines.
Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Participate in safety audits and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
Contribute to the preparation of grant applications and progress reports.
Assist in managing budgets and resources related to specific research projects.
Stay informed about new funding opportunities relevant to the research focus.

Employed in compliance with Spanish legislation and regulations under a part-time contract.
