SPECIALIST COMPLIANCE MONITORING

Role purpose The Specialist Compliance Monitoring is a Junior level position responsible for overseeing and supporting management with conducting compliance monitoring activities with regards to relevant regulatory requirements, legal codes, internal policies, code of conduct and best practice.
The compliance monitoring specialist is a critical role which allows VODACASH to assess its level of compliance as well as in preventing all instances of non-compliance.
The Specialist Compliance Monitoring will be reporting to the EHOD of Compliance Department.
Vodacash Key Responsibilities • Perform compliance monitoring reviews to provide assurance to relevant boards and sub-committees on the adequacy of systems and controls in the business, including adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to the development of risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plans to ensure coverage of key compliance risks across VODACASH.
• Continuously develop and improve the monitoring methodology and overall approach.
• Work with the wider Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) team to understand the wider Risk & Compliance environment and the impact this has on the monitoring plan.
• Pro-actively engage with stakeholders at all levels and build collaborative, effective relationships across the business including but not limited to Group Internal Audit, Group Compliance assurance and other assurance providers to contribute effectively to the execution of reviews and enhance knowledge and understanding of the Business.
• Provide advice and guidance on a wide range of compliance matters.
• Drive continuous improvement across the business adding value to improve regulatory and customer outcomes.
• Be flexible, solutions-driven and focused on risk mitigation instead of insisting on outdated agreed actions that do not adequately address the risk of non-compliance.
• Contribute towards the Compliance Monitoring technology plan as set by Group by providing local expertise to help develop the relevant technological requirements.
• Deliver high quality reports regarding compliance risks that have been identified through compliance monitoring reviews and provide recommendations on sustainable remediation programs.
• Execute the Compliance Reviews to ensure monitoring reviews are strategic, thematic, and structural to deliver the required level of assurance within the agreed timelines.
• Implement the annual risk-based Compliance monitoring plan which strategically covers key Compliance risk exposures across Vodacash.
• Monitor and control monitoring reports, committee meeting submissions and the issue tracker to ensure the information is accurate, valid and supported by factual evidence.
• Escalate significant compliance risks to the Head, Group Compliance Monitoring to report significant compliance risks identified through compliance monitoring reviews to Governance Committees, Group Compliance and Africa Regions Governance Forums.
• Monitor and control record-keeping of all review documentation in the relevant SharePoint folders in line with the Group Compliance Monitoring Data Handling Procedures.
• Monitor compliance with laws and regulations to facilitate the establishment of a compliance culture that contributes to prudent risk management.
• Provide effective training, direction, and awareness to enhance the knowledge of the Business and applicable regulatory requirements on a continuous basis.
• Provide timely communication on the results of monitoring reviews to the Business Units, and management as and when the identified gaps are confirmed.
• Stay abreast of relevant trends and typologies to utilize this information to inform the Group Compliance Monitoring Framework, to create awareness around new modus operandi and to identify potential risks.
• Take ownership for reporting issues raised during reviews to ensure effective resolution of issues within agreed timeframes.
Skills & Experience Required • Strategic thinker with expert understanding of regulatory principles, rules and best practice with a proactive and professional approach  • Experience of designing monitoring plans and managing and continually improving compliance monitoring methodology.
• Ability to communicate and influence complex regulatory matters in a way that is tailored to the relevant audience.
• Positive approachable open-door mind set which is solution focused, delivering first class customer outcomes whilst balancing commercial imperatives.
Professional, proactive an independent thinker able to work and drive forward key activities under own initiative.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a compliance role (at least 3 of which in monitoring/audit).
Qualifications • A bachelor’s degree in law related field • Professional certifications related to Compliance and AML monitoring.
• Knowledge of audit methodologies • 3+ years’ experience in compliance, regulatory monitoring, audit, or risk management in financial services • Experience in Banking or financial services including Mobile money institutions.
• Knowledge of emerging trends, best practices, tools, methodologies in the DRC regulatory landscape  • Experience of working with multiple internal and external stakeholders    Together we can.
