TRANSMISSION DESIGN ENGINEER

What you’ll do The job holder will be part of multinational distributed team managing technologies related to the Access Transmission & Transport area of the Backhaul Network.
Candidate will need to interact with other Vodafone internal teams related to Mobile Access & Business Customers, Technology Strategy and local markets in order to translate Network requirements into harmonised High Level Designs for the European region.
Candidate will be required to liaise with Vendors, drive testing activities, and deliver objectives within project timeframes according to external project’s requirement (including budget, time and agreed quality KPIs).
•    To study local markets Access Transmission requirements &prepare High Level Designs and engineering solutions for the Access Transmission Network (Layer2/3), assuring resilience of the solution &harmonization across the European Region  •    To participate, perform Testing & Acceptance of SW releases and HW platforms for the Packet MW and the IP/MPLS Cell Site Devices within the Central Acceptance Framework, collecting in advance requirements from the countries in the European Region •    Alignment with network technology strategy and architecture, liaise with vendors for roadmaps and with other functions within Vodafone, to drive the evolution and the design of Access Transmission networks in the markets in scope •    To troubleshoot Engineering solutions related to Access Transmission Networks & offer workaround solutions in order to meet defined quality standards •    To participate on RFQs related to the Evolution of the Access Transmission domain across the European Region Who you are •    Solid background in Transmission Technologies (Packet Microwaves & Switches and/or Routers) & architectures in Access domain.
nderstanding of Switching (L2), IP transport (L3) & IP/ MPLS, QoS & Sync over Packet based Networks  •    Able to challenge given solutions and offer thinking out of the box ideas  •    Understanding of 2G, 3G, 4G/4G+/5G Technologies •    Willingness to be part of a multinational team that operates through a distributed model across Europe •    Able to understand customer complaints & limitations and adopt design accordingly, in a project oriented way •    University degree.
Computer Science or Telecommunications – preferred •    CCNA and/or knowledge of Huawei, Nokia (Alcatel-Lucent), Cisco Routers •    Packet Microwaves Huawei and/or SiaE, Ericsson  •    Fluency in English •    Elevated communication & presentation skills Not a perfect fit?
