s/en/careers/jobs Institution ALBA is the Spanish synchrotron light source, a large research infrastructure operating ten beamlines, complementary facilities, and an Electron Microscopy Center, this last in partnership with other institutions.
Currently constructing multiple more beamlines, expanding the Electron Microscopy Center, and integrating advanced data analytics, it sums up a wide range of infrastructures geared toward finding solutions to societal challenges.
Located in Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain), it is funded by the Spanish Government (Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación) and the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament de Recerca i Universitats).
The synchrotron light produced by 3 GeV electrons is used by thousands of researchers to analyse and understand the properties and functionality of matter, spanning a wide variety of fields, such as catalytic research, health, energy production/storage, environmental research, communication technologies, or cultural heritage.

om/watch?v=gHMqiH4qBAo Tasks The successful candidate will lead the Vacuum Engineers Group at the Transversal Section of the Engineering Division with the following main tasks.
Management and leadership.
 To coordinate and lead the Vacuum Engineers Group within the Transversal Section at the Engineering Division, assigning tasks and supervising operation, maintenance and development projects.
Operation and Maintenance.
 To give support for the proper operation of the vacuum systems at the accelerators, beamlines and peripherical facilities, by coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance to guarantee reliability and stability.
Support to the operation.
 To provide technical assistance in the continuous functioning and sustaining of the vacuum systems, troubleshooting vacuum-related incidents during synchrotron operation, working closely with control and floor coordinators, workshop technicians and both, accelerators' and beamlines´ teams.
Design and Development.
 To carry out the design of the vacuum components and systems for the new projects.
scientific equipment and instrumentation projects, beamlines vacuum system, accelerators vacuum system and ALBAII related vacuum systems (including both.
accelerators and beamlines, upgrades and new designs).
Cross-Teams Collaboration.
 to work closely with other Transversal Section Groups, other Engineering Division groups, and other Divisions to ensure optimal operation and integration of the vacuum systems with the overall infrastructure.
Resource Management.
 To manage the group’s investment budget and running cost budget and resources and short and long-term planning’s.
To assist the transversal section head in the generation and maintenance of the ALBA activity plan.
Communication and representation.
 Represent the group in internal and external events, communications results, advancements and publications in vacuum technology.
Safety controller.
to carry out the functions and tasks as a Controller in accordance with the provisions of the occupational risk prevention plan (HS-PdP-16 SPP).​ Requirements The requirements for participation must be met on the date of the deadline for the submission of applications and will be accredited by means of the CV attached to it, without prejudice to the power of the selection body to require the contribution of the originals of the certifications accrediting the qualifications, training and work experience invoked in the CV.
The successful candidate must hold a Master degree in Industrial Engineering in the specialty of mechanics, fluidtechnics or equivalent.
a master degree in Materials Engineering, Chemistry Engineering, Nuclear Engineering and/or Physics would be also considered as suitable specialties.
