HEAD OF OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE

Role Purpose.
Take end-to-end responsibility for the Vodacom TowerCo site power availability, ensuring site power uptime delivering power in line with the TowerCo service level agreements.
Responsible for the TowerCo operations and maintenance strategy, regional partner performance management and the related operations and maintenance costs impacting the business to ensure that agreed service delivery targets are achieved.
-  Analyses and modifies new and existing electrical engineering technologies and applies experience in the testing, implementation, and delivery of various engineering projects.
Develop a cost-effective Operations and Maintenance (O&M) strategy for the Vodacom TowerCo multitenant site sharing requirements, allowing for the solution to be integrated with independent preventative and corrective maintenance service providers, while ensuring that all service levels are achieved.
This includes technical solution design, solution optimization and maintenance planning, ensuring power reliability (site uptime), with a full cost of ownership responsibility for the national operations and maintenance requirements.
Your responsibilities will include.
Operations Responsible for the development of site-specific operational strategies that will support the various technologies deployed.
Analyses and modifies new and existing electrical engineering technologies and applies experience in the testing, implementation, and delivery of various engineering projects.
Own the analysis and modification requirements of the existing and planned electrical engineering technologies to ensure that the transformational power objectives are implemented to deliver on strategic business objectives.
Develop an end-to-end cost management system for operations and maintenance requirements, with the development of standards that will ensure that the life expectancy of all assets are extended, with a maximum life expectancy obtained.
Strong people leadership, and contractor management to ensure that timeous corrective actions are taken to deliver service level agreements, while continuously looking for improvement strategies to improve service delivery.
Maintenance Develop planned maintenance strategies to ensure that equipment manufacturing requirements and engineering specifications are maintained and developed to ensure that site asset life is extended, ensuring the optimal use of assets deployed and that best value is received for money invested.
This includes all site maintenance requirements, with reference to site infrastructure, tower maintenance, power and energy management and security maintenance.
Thought Leader  Trusted and respected as a thought leader and change agent who can influence and persuade business and TowerCo Leadership Team.
Including people management, team effectiveness, people development, employee engagement  Supplier /Contract Management Develop governance structures to monitor, evaluate and manage supplier, contractors, and 3rd party’s performance (SLA/KPI) against their contracted scope of work and benchmark best practice.
Financial Management & Reporting Formulate and manage the power related operational elements CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
Including developing dashboards to enable management visibility.
Compliance Management Responsible for the TowerCo preparation for ISO compliance and certification.
The ideal candidate for this role will have.
Grade 12 is essential.
Diploma or Advanced Certificate (NQF Level 6) technical qualification, with the relevant professional body, council or board recognised by SAQA as contemplated in Regulation 18(5)(a) or where applicable Regulation 18(5)(b).
A minimum of 8-10 years of working experience within the telecommunication infrastructure sector and a working knowledge of site design and related infrastructure structural and civil specification requirements are essential.
Minimum of 5 years of either electrical or site power solution design and site uptime experience, preferably within a mobile network operator or service provider solutions background.
3-5 years of leadership experience are essential.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience.
Deep understanding of existing, new and emerging telecommunications energy generation, distribution, storage and management technologies.
Strong management experience across multiple delivery areas and vendors, including strong programme management across a complex delivery area.
Problem-solving skills, able to navigate through difficult negotiations, including business and financial acumen.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to distil complex technical concepts into simple terms, with strong persuasion skills to gain support for principles, standards, and change Excellent relationship building, teamwork, and collaboration skills that enables the provision of effective support and guidance across programmes Proven track record on key outputs/disciplines  Proven track record of the ability to apply technical knowledge in the analyses of accurate comparisons and reviews of various solution designs and the development of realistic return on investment (ROI) operational financial models..
