And, we’re just getting started!With over 1,200+ global FlyMates, representing more than 40 nationalities, and in 12 offices world-wide, we’re looking for FlyMates to join the next stage of our journey as we continue to grow.Job DescriptionThe Opportunity:We, at Flywire, are looking for an experienced Manager I, Software Engineering, ideally with a background in FinTech and hands-on experience evolving and maintaining public facing products. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the day-to-day tasks and contribute to features for building and maintaining the main payment experience for our platform that supports the money movement of our industry leading payment engine moving hundreds of millions for thousands everyday.You will join a team responsible for designing new features and enhancing existing ones to boost engagement, conversion rates, speed, cost efficiency and scalability of our product. Thus, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, pragmatic design, building quality products and to convey the sensation that the product is the responsibility of all the team is essential. You will be responsible for ensuring high quality code in a team defined timeframe.Coordinate and support daily activities for engineers on the team and partner with their managers to determine approach for managing daily tasksTrack success on the team based on established goals and objectivesPlay a strong technical role on projects and set priorities for the team to ensure task completionWork on issues of limited scope with the ability to find and execute solutions to routine problemsWrite clean, high quality, testable, secure, maintainable and extendable codeWork on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.Provide estimates, track progress, assess risk and manage the time of team membersExercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining resultsPartake in the recruitment process by identifying and exciting great talentUnderstand scalability and performance status and make improvement for scalabilityDrive change and improvement in all phases of the development lifecycleEnsure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applicationsContribute to the product vision by collaborating with multiple stakeholders and teams across engineering, product, security, compliance and design areasDrive initiatives to lead projects as well as mentor team membersQualificationsHere’s What We’re Looking For:Hands-on experience building and maintaining SPA based web application development, both in frontend and backend 1 years of managing and developing engineering teamsExperience in designing, developing and supporting scalable, performant and reliable web applications and distributed systemsSeasoned in techniques such TDD and BDDProficient working with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD)Understanding of relational databases Strong understanding of object-oriented fundamentalsGreat understanding of the other disciplines in the cross functional team: QAs, Product and SREsFluent in English, as it is the company’s working language Experience in FinTech or the payment industry will be appreciatedThe ability to deliver high quality code and learn quicklyOutstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams including product and supportTechnologies We UseRuby (open to backend languages such as Java, Python)ReactJavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 System management: Linux, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Sidekiq, AMQP, ElasticSearch,Machine LearningCloud platform: AWSOur CultureWe are a global company.
