Across a global network that is unparalleled in the industry, Swissport served airlines at 286 airports in 44 countries across six continents.Job SummaryA key role within the Regional QHSE team which combines in-depth knowledge and experience of airport ground support equipment (GSE) and its maintenance, along with expertise in quality, health & safety, and environmental management. A Regional QHSE Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with QHSE guidelines. They advise on QHSE measures, conduct risk assessments, and enforce preventative measures, conduct audits, inspections and investigations. The role involves promoting a safe workplace, providing training, on-the-job coaching, guidance to staff to improve overall safety and QHSE performance.Supports the business to assess operational safety o overlook the implementation of safety measures with in-depth knowledge of airport ground operations, cargo operations, along with expertise in quality, health & safety, and environmental management.The role holder shall provide support on the implementation and continuous improvement of the regional safety management system, policies and procedures so that all employees have a safe and healthy working environment, Swissport complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and requirements from customer airlines.Implements the Swissport Management System according to ISO 9001, 45001, 14001, ISAGO and any other applicable standards and ensure consistent delivery of services in line with these standards.Prepares reports, manage occurrences, audits and inspections and provides regional management with relevant performance measurements and any other status updates for ongoing projects, corrective and preventative action plans related to QHSE.Job Responsibilities1.Operational safety:Lead Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments and work with the stations on the take the necessary mitigating actions.Ensure QHSE related risks are appropriately addressed within operational risk registers.Investigate accidents, incidents and near-miss events to determine root causes and implement corrective measures to prevent a recurrence.Plan and coordinate quality and safety KPI monitoring (test and inspection activities, statistical techniques).Support projects aimed at improvement safety within the Swissport. Support the development and implementation of safety promotions (training, communications, safety weeks, and QHSE policies and programs.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote safety initiatives and ensure the integration of safety practices into daily operations.Promote a culture of safety across the organisationMaintain accurate records and documentation for safety inspections, audits, safety reports, investigations, corrective / preventive actions, hazard identification and risk management and training.Conduct audits, inspections and enforce compliance with procedures.Identify and escalate risks to the Regional Head of QHSE.Promote awareness of customer and regulatory requirements throughout the organizationSupport emergency preparedness and response efforts, including developing evacuation plans and proceduresMonitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety plans and procedures, and adjust or make recommendations for improvement as needed.2.Safety & necessary qualifications:Safety management system trainingHazard identification and risk management trainingKnowledge of aviation safety management systemKnowledge of cargo operations, freighter aircraft ground operations, passenger aircraft operationsAuditor or inspector training is an advantageKnowledge of audits, inspections, root cause analysis, corrective/preventative actionsKnowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 is an advantageKnowledge of ISAGO requirements is an advantageKnowledge of hazard identification and risk assessmentsEnsure full compliance with the Swissport Management System in all workshops.Ensure compliance with applicable performance standards.Promote and monitor the adherence of company’s recycling program in fleet workshops.Development of procedures, gap analysis of Swissport policies and procedures against customer airlines procedures and requirements3.Other responsibilities:As directed by the Regional Head of QHSEStay updated about emerging safety trends, regulations and best practices to ensure continuous improvementKey Performance IndicatorsReduction of injury and aircraft damage ratesDevelopment and delivery of safety promotionsTimeline completion of investigations meeting the desired standardsFollow up and monitoring preventing overdue actions and findingsExternal audit preparation and compliance audits/inspections (ISO, Customer, Regulatory etc.)Qualifications and CompetenciesUniversity degree/professional qualifications or equivalent in related field A minimum of years’ experience in safety management and/or quality management system, preferably in large-size aircraft / aviation environmentsA minimum of 3 years experience in airline or ground handling company airside operation, aircraft turnaround activities and exposure to cargo operationsAdvanced spoken and written English Good oral and written communication, interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and motivate others at all levelsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate potential risks.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels.Attention to detail and the ability to enforce safety procedures and protocols.Leadership to drive standards, actions and activities at all levelsA sense of passion for improving safety & quality standards and a commitment to continuous improvementAbility to persuade, gain support, obtain commitment, and mobilize a team to actionIn-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 suitePersonal and professional integrity and trustworthinessGoal / target orientedWillingness to travel at short notice, may need to spend short/ long periods of time in specific locations as required.
