RESEARCHER IN FLORAL BIOLOGY AND PLANT PHYSIOLOGY FOR THE FRUIT PRODUCTION PROGRAM

IRTA is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Researcher in Floral Biology and Plant Physiology to lead and carry out research, innovation and demonstration projects and technology transfer activities in the areas of cultivars, weather conditions and orchard management under a climate change environment in the Fruit Production Program. The researcher will develop his/her activities in a collaborative environment, interacting with teams including breeding, plant health and water use efficiency. The researcher will interact with the fruit industry providing scientifical and technical leadership. The research line will be focused on nuts, pip and stone fruits with some activities on other woody crops (olive, vineyard, …).Head of the Program: Dr Luís AsínJob location: IRTA-Fruitcentre (Lleida)Full-time position: 37.5 h/weekTerms of appointment: permanent position or IRTA Consolida (tenure track) position, subject to the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.Gross Annual Salary: To be resolved according to the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.Employee Benefits: 22 vacation days, 3 days of family & work conciliation, 45h of personal days, Friday afternoon off, Compressed Summer schedule from 15/06 to 15/09, Conciliation schedule.Tasks and Responsibilities:Contribute to the activities of the research on floral biology and plant physiology, performing scientific and technical tasks, taking part in the planning and execution of the experiments to ensure the achievement of milestones of research projects.Perform literature review, data collection and management, involving statistical analysis.Contribute to the scientific production of the research and innovation activities of the Program.Lead and actively contribute fund rising through the preparation and submission of project proposals for public competitive calls (national and international) and for contracts with the private sector, as well reporting process, such as writing progress and final reports of research activities.Contribute to the transfer of knowledge and technologies to the private sector.Participate in dissemination activities related with the research line.Create synergies with other research lines at IRTA and in other research institutions or universities.Required qualifications and experience: Ph.D. in Plant Science (Degree in Agronomy, Biology or related). Postdoctoral experience at least for 2 years in research institutions.Scientific experience in Floral Biology or Plant Physiology research.Scientific experience publishing in peer‐review scientific journals.Experience in interacting with the agricultural sector and the scientific community.Experience in participation in competitive projects.Experience in statistical analysis.Sound computational skills with advanced user level of the Office package (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and data analysis software (SAS, R, Xlstat, JMP, other).Full driving license for Europe and travelling availability.Skills and experience in fruit or nut tree management.Desirable requirements:Research experience in fruit or nut crops.Knowledge of fruit industry concertation, technology transfer and fostering innovation added value.International experienceStrong organization capacity and ability to learn and successfully work within multidisciplinary teams and experience to motivate research teams.Mind-oriented to challenges and focus on results.Capacity and skills to develop and encourage strong collaborative links with the national and international scientific community and the fruit industry sector (Catalan, Spanish, European and International).Capacity to foresee, plan and write R+D projects, reports and technical documents.Communication and team working attitude.Organization and motivation.Compromise and cooperation.Pro-activity.Languages:Proficiency in English.Knowledge of Catalan, Spanish and French will also be valued.Application process:If you wish to be considered for this position, please, apply via our Recruitment Platform to the job post with reference 190-24 and upload your CV and motivation letter until 09/01/2025.
