This position involves identifying, analysing, and mitigating potential safety risks. The Safety Officer is responsible for conducting thorough investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-miss events, and ensuring compliance with all aviation safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of safety management systems (SMS), risk assessment, and regulatory standards, with previous experience in helicopter operations being an advantage.MAIN RESPONSABILITIESIncident and Accident InvestigationLead investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-miss events, following established protocols and methodologies in line with ICAO Annex 13.Collect, analyse, and document all relevant data, including aircraft logs, maintenance records, and witness statements.Prepare comprehensive investigative reports, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.Safety Program Development and MaintenanceSupport the implementation and continuous improvement of the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS) to foster a positive safety culture.Conduct safety training and briefings for aviation personnel, emphasising proactive safety measures.Risk Assessment and Hazard IdentificationConduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with aviation operations, flights, and ground activities.Participate in safety inspections, reporting findings and working with teams to resolve identified issues.Actively monitor and report on safety performance indicators and trends to anticipate and mitigate risks.Regulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with all aviation safety regulations, including those set by EASA, and the Spanish and Portuguese authorities.Stay current on industry standards and regulatory updates to adapt safety best practice accordingly.Support coordination with regulatory bodies during inspections, audits, and any required reporting.Safety Promotion and CommunicationAssist with developing safety bulletins, newsletters, or other communication materials to keep all personnel informed on safety issues and results of investigations.Engage with cross-functional teams to reinforce safety protocols and learnings from events and investigations.Data Collection and AnalysisManage safety-related data, including flight data, incident reports, and SMS records.Analyse safety data to identify trends and make data-driven recommendations for safety improvements.Use Safety data for tracking, reporting and investigative purposes.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: Bachelor’s degree in aviation, safety management, or a related field desirable.Experience: Minimum of 3 years in aviation safety, preferably in helicopter operations; accident/incident investigation experience is essential.Certifications: Safety Management System (SMS) certification,; ICAO based Accident Investigation Training preferred.Technical Skills: Proficiency in safety management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools.Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of aviation safety regulations (EASA, Spain and Portugal), and best practices in risk assessment and mitigation.Languages: Good level of Spanish and English.Other Requirements: Willingness to travel as needed; ability to work in challenging environments and adapt to high-stress situations.CORE COMPETENCIESAnalytical Thinking: Ability to analyse complex data and incident details to determine root causes and make safety improvements.Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to data gathering and incident investigation.Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the business.Decision-Making: Strong decision-making abilities, especially under pressure or in high-stakes situations.Ethics and Integrity: Maintains high ethical standards and ensures compliance with business and industry safety standards and regulations.🚀Why Avincis?Avincis boasts decades of experience in providing aerial emergency services, making us a leading force in the industry.
