Ethicon, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Tool & Die Technician located in its manufacturing site at San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico.
The Tool and Die Technician will set up and operate a variety of machine tools, make, alter, and/or repair dies, molds, complex fixtures, and gauges where tolerance and finishes are exact.
Responsibilities.
Make all types of precision tools, dies, molds, jigs, fixtures and gauges of intricate design and construction using product drawing, tools drawings, sketches, and/or samples.
Analyze information, drawings, sample parts, and product material characteristics to plan and design tools which features not only will achieve economic costs but will also produce the part efficiently with sound methods and practices.
Set up and operate machine tools, attachments, and adapters to make, alter and/or repair parts for tools and equipment, or machine single piece tools and gauges complete where tolerance and finish requirements are exact.
Perform final fitting an alignment of parts, and development of work necessary to build, complete, and see-through tryout tools and equipment such as compound and progressive forming, drawing forming dies and die molds.
Perform development work on new concept tools, dies and/or other equipment.
Fabricate complex layout and machine set-up for other machines in the shop.
Give support to Process Engineers in the applicable development of projects.
Trains Maintenance Technicians in the design and debugging of any given pieces of tooling.
Establish priorities and schedule shop workload.
Contact vendors for the purchase of shop’s raw material and equipment.
Recommend purchase of all materials required to fulfill job description.
Recommend purchase of new equipment for Machine Shop, as required.
Qualifications Tool & Die Technician diploma or certificate is required Minimum four (4) years of experience as Tool & Die Technician or similar / equivalent position is preferred.
CNC Machine previous experience is required.
Availability to travel 10% of the time Domestic and/or international travel is required.
Availability to work overtime, various work schedules, which may include 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts and/or 12-hour daily shifts, including weekends and holidays is required.
