Context And Mission The Parallel Programming Models (PM) group as part of the Computer Science Department, is composed of more than 30 PhD students, support engineers, postdocs and senior researchers.
PM has a strong background on parallel and distributed programming models, domain specific languages (DSLs), compilers, accelerators, and porting and adapting the OS Linux kernel and software distributions to the RISC-V processor environments developed at BSC.
The PM group is involved in several National and European projects, as well as projects with industries.
The PM group is looking for scientists from the national and international community who wish to develop his/her career in a stimulating environment, rich in technological resources and campus life.

Successful candidates will join the PM research group to carry out their research in cutting-edge areas of parallel and distributed programming models, including the Linux support for parallel environments (OpenMP and MPI) on top of the BSC RISC-V developments, implementation of high-performance codes, heterogeneous systems, compilers, runtimes, accelerators, DSLs, etc.
Key Duties Adapt the booting process, firmware and operating system to the BSC RISC-V Lagarto environments Port and develop drivers for Linux support of new devices and hardware performance counters, for the target RISC-V platforms Evaluation and tuning of the Linux support, and microbenchmarking Participate in Education and Training courses related to the Operating System for the RISC-V architecture Requirements Education Bachelor or Master on Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent degree Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience Deep knowledge on operating systems, Linux and driver structure, the boot process, and how to access the low level hardware characteristics Strong programming skills (C/C++) Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience Knowledge on processor architecture, ISA and ABI, especially targetting RISC-V Knowledge on the use of FPGAs as emulation platforms Competences Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to take initiative, and prioritize tasks according to the evolution of the projects Ability to work independently and in a team Conditions The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department We offer a full-time contract (37.

Development of the recruitment process The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso-Oposición").
The recruitment process consists of two phases.
Curriculum Analysis.
Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position.
- 40 points Interview phase.
The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources.
In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated.
- 60 points.
A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.
The recruitment panel will be composed of at least three people, ensuring at least 25% representation of women.
In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process.
After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview.
At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.
The panel will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.
