Introduction and overview The External Affairs Manager plays a vital role in ensuring equitable access to healthcare and shaping the healthcare environment in Norway.
This position holds overall responsibility for policy work, aligned with the J&J policy strategy and the J&J position paper.
The External Affairs Manager will execute the vision outlined in the position paper, focusing on its key pillars.
This role is essential in driving access, funding, and policy discussions, collaborating closely with various decision makers.
Key stakeholders include politicians, government officials, civil servants, industry associations and other stakeholders influencing healthcare policy.
The External Affairs Manager will engage in public discourse on key policy issues, encouraging trust and positioning the organization as a preferred partner in the healthcare space.
The position is located in Oslo, reporting to the Market Access & Government Affairs Lead Norway.
Objectives of the position Execute the J&J policy as outlined in the position paper, ensuring that the external affairs strategy aligns with both J&J's overall objectives for the country and the short- and long-term business plans.
Analyze the political, social, and economic landscape, monitor legislative developments, and conduct impact analyses to inform strategic decisions.
Collaborate with the MA&GA Affairs lead to coordinate and align government affairs initiatives.
Build and nurture effective relationships with key internal and external partners.
Work to identify and implement impactful solutions that address healthcare challenges.
Support therapeutic areas by developing and driving projects or activities in collaboration with other company functions, sought at growing the utilization of innovative therapies.
Actively participate in relevant external networks, leading external engagement with pharmaceutical associations and other groups, strategically positioning J&J on important health topics.
What you will need to succeed The candidates will preferably bring a background in political work or relevant healthcare bodies, along with a robust external network.
Strong analytical, communication, decision-making, and leadership skills to effectively execute projects and engage with both external and internal partners.
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to influence and collaborate effectively among diverse partners.
Ability to thrive within a matrix organization, contributing as both an individual and a member of various teams.
Qualifications A minimum of a bachelor's degree in political science, economics, or a related field (required).
At least five years of experience in comparable roles (preferred).
Experience in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, or a related industry (preferred).
Proficient in Norwegian and English (required).
